Whether they are developer errors, gameplay elements that were forgotten and never removed, or glitches, there are at least 25 shocking mistakes you never noticed in the Super Mario series. The first time each of us experienced playing a Mario game was a special occasion that we’ll forever cherish. If you grew up in the ’90s, you might have experienced Super Mario 64, and if you grew up in the 2000s, it could have been Super Mario Galaxy or Super Mario Galaxy 2.

When glitches are encountered in gameplay, they can be severely irritating. Although glitches can occur accidentally, they can also improve gameplay. Glitches in video games are compared to easter eggs because they are difficult to find and provide enjoyment when discovered. Some glitches may require several tricky steps to reveal. Glitches provide you with another reason to continue playing after you’ve finished a game.

Be warned, mistakes seen in Super Mario games that are contained on this list may force your game to lose its game save and/or possibly corrupt. We don’t recommend attempting any of these glitches without Nintendo’s approval.

This list includes beloved Nintendo titles such as Super Mario 3D Land, Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Odyssey, and Super Mario 64. The platforms include consoles such as the Switch, Wii U, 3DS, 64, NES, DS, and GameCube. We hope you exercise extreme caution when attempting to unveil these crazy Super Mario mistakes.

5 To Boldly Go Where No Frog Has Gone Before

On the darker side of the moon in the Moon Kingdom in Odyssey, there is a glitch that will allow you to, as the frog, swim way past the edge of the map. Simply capture one of the frogs, jump high, uncapture the frog, land on the other frog and as soon as you hit it, then capture this frog. If you performed these steps correctly, you’ll be able to swim in the moon’s air for a seemingly endless distance.

This glitch is not only cool but also allows you reach the tower, which has a Multi-Power Moon at the top of it. Ordinarily, reaching the tower is only accessible later in the game. If you feel like going for a long swim towards the edge of the map, you’ll eventually notice the level disappearing behind you as you progress.

4 Who Decided To Put A Wall Here?

A vast majority of the glitches that have been discovered in Super Mario Maker are patched. Glitches in other Super Mario games have been discovered over ten years after their game’s initial release. A glitch in Super Mario Maker can lead to a player becoming stuck in a wall.

To make this glitch to occur, you need the giant Goomba’s shoe, cloud blocks, and solid blocks. Make a rectangle with three cloud blocks tall inside of it. Put the solid blocks on top of the cloud blocks to seal the structure. Using Goomba’s shoes, you can get your shoes stuck in the wall if you get close to the blocks, then quickly jump in and out of the shoes. Jumping once more will make Mario completely stuck in the wall.

3 Talkatoo Is Just Attention Grabbing

One of the most used glitches in Super Mario Odyssey allows a player to freeze the camera angle when talking to Talkatoo. To perform this glitch, you must throw your hat and press A to initiate a conversation with Talkatoo. If you did this correctly, the hat will freeze in place, and the Talkatoo will begin speaking. After being able to move Mario, you will notice the camera has locked in place. You’ll be able to walk around the area with a frozen camera angle. The glitch can be awkward at first, but once you get the timing right, you’ll be glitching in no time.

From what we know, many of the locations with Talkatoo will allow this glitch to activate including New Donk City. It may be more difficult to execute this glitch in some locations rather than others so New Donk City is a safe place to start.

2 Give Me More Coins, Please

There are numerous ways to gain infinite coins in Super Mario 64. Technically the maximum coins one can obtain in a Super Mario 64 level is 999, but you can continue to pick coins up with no gain to your score.

The first Bowser boss battle in Super Mario 64 takes place in Bowser in the Dark World. In this world, Bowser breathes fire that turns into coins after going out. These coins drop endlessly so you can obtain infinite coins. Also, by utilizing the warp pipe next to the piranha on Tiny-Huge Island, you can spawn unlimited coins by attacking a shrinking piranha, collecting its coins, going into the warp pipe and repeating the process. Look out for enemies who spawn infinite coins because they are abundant throughout Peach’s Castle.
