Mojang Studios has dropped a new gameplay trailer for upcoming action strategy game Minecraft Legends during the Xbox & Bethesda Developer Direct Showcase.

The game is the newest spin-off from the block-building mega hit, and will offer players the chance to write their own legend.

The gameplay trailer shown during the Direct Showcase also displayed more of the game’s PvP aspect as opposed to its single-player campaign.

Check out the trailer below, followed by everything we know about the game so far.

Minecraft Legends – release date and more

Minecraft Legends is set to release on April 18, 2023. It will be released on multiple platforms, which include the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC when it lands.

Being an Xbox Game Studios Game, it’ll of course also be available via Xbox Game Pass from launch.

The game was first revealed back in June. You’ll play as a singular character, who sets out on a quest to save the idyllic and peaceful Overworld.

One of the major differences between Legends and fellow spin-off Minecraft Dungeons is that though you’ll be controlling one character, you’ll be directing groups of mobs – a little like 2009 Double Fine game Brutal Legend.

An additional preview was exhibited during the Xbox Developer Direct Showcase. This time around, the PvP aspect of the upcoming title was displayed all throughout the trailer.

According to the developers, two teams of four will match up against each other and the main goal will be to destroy the enemy team’s main structure. During the match, players will be able to farm for resources, which they can then use to build walls and buildings that can help protect their base.

Development on the game is being handled by Blackbird Interactive alongside Minecraft home studio Mojang Studios. They previously released a developer diary on creating the new game, which you can check out below.

We’ll keep this hub updated with new information on Minecraft Legends as and when we get it.
