Minecraft has issued a new update that has removed numerous references to its creator, Markus ‘Notch’ Persson.
Previously, various nods to Notch had appeared on the game’s main menu, including the text ‘Made by Notch!,’ ‘The Work of Notch!,’ as well as the date ‘110813!,’ which is when he got married.
While these have been removed, Notch still appears in Minecraft’s credits as the game’s creator.
Minecraft was released to the public way back in May 2009, and Notch sold developer Majong to Microsoft five years later for a whopping $2.5 billion.
Since that time however, Notch has been heavily criticised for various hateful and bigoted comments on social media, so it’s no wonder Microsoft seemingly wants to distance itself from them, especially given Minecraft’s family-friendly nature.
