Baby Yoda is continuing their conquest of the world by invading Minecraft thanks to a mod.
You can’t go anywhere online without seeing Baby Yoda. First there were memes, and now there are actual freakin’ products with that adorable face plastered all over it. You can find Baby Yoda statuettes in The Sims 4 now, and folks are calling for their inclusion in Star Wars Battlefront II as well.
Another game has already fallen to Baby Yoda’s onslaught of cute: Minecraft.
We can thank modder VSCO (who goes by vscomod on Reddit) for creating this Baby Yoda mod using Photoshop, Eclipse, and a Minecraft editing platform called BlockBench. The video makes the whole process seem pretty easy, and just as easily placed into Minecraft with their own little Mandalorian guardian.
Does Baby Yoda serve any purpose at all in Minecraft? Of course not. Just as in the Disney Plus show, Baby Yoda is the textbook definition of a MacGuffin–an adorable, lovable, squeezable MacGuffin that you would lay down your very life for. Which is sort of the plot of the show, come to think of it.
The entire Reddit post where Baby Yoda’s Minecraft version was revealed is filled with users demanding a download link. Sadly, we were never provided one. All we have a TikTok video with an equally cute song playing over Baby Yoda’s creation.
Does this mean we may never see Baby Yoda in our own Minecraft servers? Maybe. But you can’t keep a good Baby Yoda meme down. Other Baby Yoda mods for Minecraft already exist, although none have the same pixelated expression as this one does.
Will we ever get a true name for Baby Yoda? The show makes the little tyke out to be the last of its species, but the only other example we’ve ever seen was the actual Yoda in the classic films. Maybe that’ll be the final scene of the series, where the Mandalorian learns his child’s name in a heartwarming conclusion.
In the meantime, you can cuddle your Baby Yoda in Minecraft. Hopefully.
