Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 fans are experiencing a bug that prevents weapon attachments unlocking.

Although not confirmed as the cause, it seems to be a related to Infinity Ward recently disabling attachment tuning, which resulted in gamers experiencing a high number of crashes in Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer.

Infinity Ward said in a Tweet: “We are disabling attachment tuning until further notice to investigate crashes for users with 5 attachments tuned. If you currently have a tuned attachment equipped, you will need to unequip and reequip it to use your loadout.”

There is not fix for this issue as yet, and it’s yet to be confirmed by Infinity Ward that they’re looking into it. Some have found that restarting the game can help, but this is not an ideal solution.

It’s likely Infinity Ward will look to patch this, among others issues, in an imminent update. The weapons attachments not unlocking bug is one of a growing list of issues Modern Warfare 2 has faced since launch.

Some gamers complained that the Vault Edition rewards did not appear in game, while others on PC experienced a ‘reset rank‘ error. Most recently, there have been issues with the Showcase screen not showing the right operator, and guns disappearing from view in the lobbies.

We will update this page once a fix has been found, or if Infinity Ward comment on the issue. If you’re a serious MW2 multiplayer fan, make sure to check out our loadout guides – such as this best loadout for the M4 – to give you the edge.
