Modern Warfare fans are hoping to see the return of ‘realism mode‘ in this year’s game.

For those unfamiliar with it, the Realism playlist in Modern Warfare 2019 gave gamers a stripped-down interface, with no HUD or mini-map. And it went down a storm with fans.

That’s not all. Realism dialed up head-shot damage and limited health regeneration to the standard level.

There was also a total lack of hit markers, point tracking, and earned XP alerts.

To top it all off, Realism matches offered night variant maps with laser-guided attachments playing a huge part in the gameplay.

It’s not surprising then that fans on the Modern Warfare 2 sub-reddit are keen for this mode to return.

One wrote: “I want realism mode back in MWII with night maps. This mode was so underrated, but I enjoyed realistic, tactical and immersive aspects of this game mode. PLS IW bring this back!”

Another added: “Realism was my go to game mode in MW2019. The crisp graphics and superb audio made this mode extremely immersive.

“Even ground war realism was a shitload of fun. Unfortunately I have a feeling we’re in the minority and these modes won’t make a return, they just didn’t appeal to the broader COD community.”

Others enjoyed the mode but felt it needed a few improvements.

“I feel like the night mode needed some tweaking. I hated that I had to use a laser, even if I used an optic that would be compatible with NVGs like an EoTech,” writes one COD fan.

What’s clear is that there is a demand for this mode, and with Infinity Ward once again striving for ultra-realism, it’s more likely than not that we’ll see this mode appear – perhaps for a limited period – in the next game.

For those looking to get their hands on Modern Warfare 2, you will not be waiting much longer.
