CoD Isn’t CoD Without Gun Game
Simply put, Gun Game had a flair about it that few other modes capture so eloquently. Search and Destroy tended to get annoying, due to only having one life per round, which led to over cautiousness and imminent waiting. Domination is awesome but can get extremely hectic, whereas Team Deathmatch is jam-packed with campers. Ground War is a terrific new Battlefield-esque addition to the franchise, but players will have to get used to dying in that one. In older Call of Duty games (and even in some newer ones, such as Black Ops 3) Gun Game allowed newcomers to learn the various guns in an interesting way. In 2019’s Modern Warfare, most players just turn to private parties or Spec-Ops in order to diagnose their preferred weaponry.
I’m not the only one asking for it. Many users from Reddit have called for Gun Game, as well, citing its fast-paced gameplay and the ways in which certain players have learned to adapt to aiming. It’s a staple of the series and would make for one intriguing addition if used in a new light. This new and improved title is not only a nostalgia trip but an overhaul of what made Call of Duty stand out so well all those years ago. Modern Warfare may be worth the price, but without Gun Game it’s just not the same. And, with all of these guns to choose from, they all kind of go to waste after a while, that is once players figure out their most proficient loadouts.
An Adapted 2019 Gun Game
In the same vein that Infinity Ward has adapted Call of Duty’s well-known Prestige system, Gun Game could have a similar treatment by way of utilizing the highly popular Gunsmith. Hear me out, this may sound crazy, but adding a whole new layer of intrigue to Gun Game by way of varied attachments would make playthroughs extremely dynamic. To make things even more interesting, after each kill and acquisition of a new gun, the number of gun attachments goes up, as well. But, all guns must have the same attachments, so there isn’t an uneven distribution of prowess on the battlefield.
With such an array of guns and attachments in the game, it’s baffling that the mode wasn’t a day one feature. Gun Game has been in nearly every Call of Duty since the franchise’s start and gives the more fast-paced gamers an experience unlike any other while teaching newbies the best ways to use the many different armaments. Ground War is one of Modern Warfare’s shining new delights and is probably why Infinity Ward has limited the amount of added modes, so players try out the newer ones. With Modern Warfare post-release seasons already planned out, it’s clear the developer intends to drip-feed players content in order to build upon its already well-established title.
Modern Warfare is back, and it’s nowhere near what it used to be, which is for good reason. The streamlined controls, tactical mechanics, and array of weaponry gives the game an immeasurable amount of customization and personalization. Even the new Quick Play concept, wherein players can create a specific playlist of modes, is a sweet new addition that would only be made the better with Gun Game. A bevy of new maps and modes are most assuredly around the corner, so fans will just have to be patient.
