An official Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Warzone battle royale reveal is imminent. A timer has appeared in-game indicating that a reveal or the Warzone launch will take place on March 10, so it seems like fans will finally get to see the mode in action. In the meantime, some fresh details about Modern Warfare’s Warzone mode have leaked online thanks to a prematurely uploaded YouTube video, and the video reveals some interesting details about the Warzone map.
The YouTube video was uploaded by Chaos, and it served as a gameplay impressions video of the Warzone battle royale map. In the video, Chaos pointed out some interesting details about the Warzone map, including that it’s custom-made instead of reusing assets from other Modern Warfare maps as some had anticipated. The map will also be larger than Black Ops 4’s Blackout map, and like Blackout, it will be comprised of maps from previous Call of Duty games.
Whereas the Black Ops 4 Blackout map used locations from Treyarch-developed Call of Duty games, the Modern Warfare Warzone map will apparently use locations from Infinity Ward-developed Call of Duty games. According to the video, maps that will be used on the Warzone map include Broadcast, Overgrown, Scrapyard, and the fan favorite Modern Warfare 2 map Terminal. It’s unclear if other popular map locations from Infinity Ward Call of Duty games will be used as well.
Besides touching on the Modern Warfare Warzone map, the Chaos leak also revealed some other interesting details about the game. According to the leak, Modern Warfare’s Warzone mode will be free-to-play with cross-play support, and it will feature solos, duos, and trios. Additionally, Modern Warfare’s Warzone mode will also apparently have two different game modes for players to try.
The first is a standard battle royale mode, but the other is Plunder, which has some interesting rules. In Plunder, players collect cash that can be used to purchase things like killstreaks and revive tokens. When using revive tokens, players are thrown into a 1v1 match on the Gulag Gunfight map, and if they win, they can rejoin the game. Apparently, this feature will be turned off in the later stages of a match.
These leaked Warzone details sound interesting, and luckily, it seems fans won’t have to wait long to find out more. A countdown timer has appeared in Modern Warfare itself, teasing that either a reveal or a launch will be happening within the next 24 hours.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
