Capcom has staple-gunned an August 9 release date to the PC version of Monster Hunter World.
It seems studio has bumped the game’s release forward slightly, as the PC version of the beast-slaying sequel was originally due out in autumn.
Monster Hunter World, as the game’s producer Ryozo Tsujimoto notes in a Q&A, is the first mainline entry in the long-running franchise to arrive on PC, so its release is a pretty big deal for desktop gamers.
Tsujimoto-san also confirmed to PC Gamer that Monster Hunter World’s visuals on PC will ‘have parity with the console versions,’ though will not support cross-platform play. As for mod support, there won’t be any at launch, with Tsujimoto adding that ‘we don’t have anything to announce at this time.’
Monster Hunter World was released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January, and became Capcom’s best-selling game of all time. Yes, even more than Street Fighter II and Resident Evil 5.
We thought it was a fantastic beast and functions as a brilliant entry point into the franchise.
