Legendary caster and esports personality, Christopher “MonteCristo” Mykles, took to twitter to announce that he will be partnering with Cloud9 going forward. Cloud9 is a popular esports organization that houses teams in the Overwatch League, League of Legends, CS:GO, Hearthstone and more. This is a big move for MonteCristo’s career and a smart decision for the organization moving forward.
This news comes off the heels of another announcement MonteCristo made recently where he stated he would no longer be casting the Overwatch League in the 2020 season due to happenings behind-the-scenes. MonteCristo was just one of a mass exodus of OWL casters heading into the new season and this has left many to worry about the future of the league, it’s longevity, survivability and just audience interest in general.
MonteCristo has had a stellar esports career up to this point. He began casting back in Warcraft 3 days and after enjoyed a surge in exposure and popularity with his casting in League of Legends alongside Erik “DoA” Lonnquist (who also announced his departure from OWL). The duo transitioned into the competitive Overwatch scene before the Overwatch League even started and then they became prominent casters for the 2018 and 2019 seasons of the league.
The partnership between MonteCristo and Cloud9 is good for both sides as Monte can continue to branch out and create more content in all of esports while Cloud9 gets a seasoned esports personality that brings a lot of insight and experience with him.
