If you’re fearing the day that Microsoft pulls the plug on Xbox Live for the Original Xbox, then watch out for EA pulling online play for some of their older titles. On March 16th, a handful of EA titles on various platforms will lose their online functionality. EA has stated that the games being “retired” only make up 0.3% of the online community.

I’m sure EA would love you to go out an pick up the newer versions of all these games, just as I’m sure Microsoft wants you to pick up an Xbox 360. Hopefully not many people are actually effected by this, but I’m sure there are a few of you out there that will be angry at having to give up a perfectly good game.

Additionally, the shutdown of Xbox LIVE for Original Xbox consoles and games (scheduled for April 15, 2010) will retire online services for the following titles:

Battlefield 2: Modern Combat for Xbox

Burnout 3: Takedown for Xbox

Madden NFL 09 for Xbox
