NetherRealm Studios added a new Brutality for Jade in Mortal Kombat 11 this weekend that features a blood-spewing decapitation.
Jade’s fighting style includes the use of a long, glowing green staff that gives the character quick movement and a lot of range in battle. So far, the majority of her finishing moves in Mortal Kombat 11 have involved the use of the staff but this one has her holster it for something entirely different.
In the video by NGSUPERMAN below, Jade shares an exchange with D’Vorah before knocking her on her feet. She then puts her staff away, puts her hands on D’vorah’s head, and pulls it clean off with a twist of her wrists.
Jade, a long-time fixture in the series, made her first appearance in Mortal Kombat 11 earlier this year. This new Brutality requires players to complete 10 ranked daily kombat challenges in order to unlock it.
This weekend is the annual fighting competition EVO, which is usually a good time for big announcements in the fighting game space. After the push-back this week on NetherRealm taking its time to reveal the rest of the fighters in the game’s Kombat Pack add-on, the developer took to Twitter to announce that a reveal trailer will come at the end of the month. Many fans assumed that meant they shouldn’t expect anything new during the tournament.
It looks like NetherRealm had something new after all to capitalize on the fighting game hype. It also revealed the release date for new character Nightwolf last week. Between these two things and the upcoming Kombat Pack trailer, it looks like Mortal Kombat 11 fans have a lot to anticipate.
In the meantime, EVO will continue through Sunday, and as of this post, the Mortal Kombat 11 portion of the event has not yet happened. Perhaps NetherRealm will have a few other reveals waiting in the wings for their game’s moment in the spotlight.
Mortal Kombat 11 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
