As you get to play NBA 2K23 more and more, you’ll start to notice the impact good defense can have for your team or player. NBA 2K did a lot to improve and build upon the defensive gameplay of their latest installment, including the on-ball defense, stealing moves, and blocking you can implement with your player.
Previously, we covered how to steal, touching up on the controls and key tips of information that are important to know when defending in this game.
However, a skill that’s as equally important to master if you want to enforce disruptive defense play, is blocking. Whether it’s a straight up jump block, to a chase-down block, to what I like to call the ‘volleyball spike’ block, there’s a lot of ways you can block players by simply pressing one button or key to do so.
Without further ado, here’s a look at all the controls for how to block in NBA 2K23.
How to block in NBA 2K23
PlayStation: Triangle
Xbox: Y
PC: NumPad 3
Additional Tips: As it pertains to so many things in NBA 2K23, timing is a major factor to keep in mind when executing good blocks. If you’re a hair early, you could get faked out and allow your opponent to score. And if you’re too late, your opponent could shoot over you.
In addition, proximity is also really important, especially for chase-down blocks. If you’re not close enough to the ball handler, your blocking attempt will merely serve as a shot contest at best.
To get a good feel for how to block, we recommend trying it out with some of the best rated players in the game that will grant you a chance to learn and master the move.
