It’s amazing what old hardware is capable of, as a NES Netflix project created at the firm’s Netflix Hack Day event has proven.
Hack Day sees the firm’s product development teams get together and experiment for a day, free from the usual restrictions of work.
Around 70 hacks were created at this year’s event, with the highlight being darNES, which brings Netflix streaming to the Nintendo Entertainment System. The hack features its own NES cart and is controlled using the gamepad. Watch the video for amazing 8-bit video streaming.
Other hacks from the event include Netflix Earth, BEEP (Binge Encouragement and Enforcement Platform) and a Netflix cheaters system.
These hacks may never become part of the Netflix product, internal infrastructure, or otherwise be used beyond Hack Day.
