A new dating sim launching on Steam this Valentine’s Day will encourage its British players to donate blood.
There appears to be no limit to what developers will try and turn into some sort of simulator, and that is by no means a bad thing. The simulator genre has been around for years and allows gamers to assume the role of pretty much anything, from a theme park owner, to a surgeon, pilot, and even something a little wackier like a goat or a goose.
It’s not entirely clear why, but simulators that allow players to live out scenarios they could for real are incredibly popular. Look no further than the most popular simulator of all, The Sims. You can build a house, create a family, get a job, eat, sleep, all of which we all do every day, but it’s just more fun to do it in a game.
Table Manners is a new game coming to Steam later this month that will allow players to do exactly that. The game is a dating simulator from developer Curve Digitial and, as you can see from the trailer above, all bets are off when it comes to any sort of decorum. The most surprising thing of all is that the only date who seems to be mad about how things are going is the gentleman aboard the plane right at the end.
There are a handful of dating simulators already out there, but Table Manners comes with a unique feature no other game has had before, according to Video Games Chronicle. The game will urge players living in the UK to donate blood. Give blood messaging will be delivered in-game as a part of the NHS Blood & Transplant’s Valentine’s Day campaign.
The campaign aims to get more men donating blood in 2020, something there is a severe shortage of in the UK right now. Whether you plan on giving blood or not and just fancy giving Table Manners a whirl, it will be available on Steam from February 14, 2020. Yes, that is Valentine’s Day. We’re not sure if that’s a cruel taunt to the game’s target audience or just smart marketing.
