The latest edition of Unearthed Arcana has added three subclasses to the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons, including the College of Creation school for bards, the Unity Domain for clerics, and the Clockwork Soul Origin for sorcerers.
Unearthed Arcana is a regular feature on the official Dungeons & Dragons website that gives out playtest material to players for free, often in the form of new subclasses and abilities. It should be stressed that the material that appears in Unearthed Arcana is still in a development phase and DMs are within their rights to refuse to use them if they feel that the content is unbalanced.
The latest Unearthed Arcana has been released and it adds three new subclasses to the game. The first is the College of Creation school for bards, which can be selected when they reach level three. The College of Creation allows bards to create and animate items through the power of music. This manifests in a much stronger version of Bardic Inspiration with multiple effects, the ability to create dancing weapons in battle, and creating whole items at level fourteen.
Clerics can now choose the Unity Domain at level one, which is about the worship of togetherness and community. Unity clerics can use Emboldening Bond on two living creatures, allowing them to add 1d4 to various checks while close to each other, they can use Channel Divinity to share damage taken to one ally among multiple units, they gain a Wisdom modifier to damage when using cantrips, and can create a stronger version of Emboldening Bond at level seventeen that grants a ton of bonuses when a bonded ally is dropped to zero hit points.
Sorcerers can now choose the Clockwork Soul origin at level one, which means that someone in their lineage was influenced by the planes of law (or they did it with a modron). A Clockwork Soul sorcerer gains access to a number of defensive spells, they can stop a creature from gaining the effects of advantage/disadvantage by using their reaction, they can spend sorcery points to create a magical shield around allies, they can prevent creatures from gaining advantage against them in combat, they can make rolls from 9-1 on a D20 be considered as a 10, and they can summon powerful modron spirits at level eighteen.
