The release of Final Fantasy VII Remake draws ever closer and Square Enix has released a new piece of key art depicting one of the final moments of the game, where the members of AVALANCHE and their allies look out at the world beyond Midgar.
In Final Fantasy VII, the Midgar section of the game only encompassed the first few hours of the first disc. Final Fantasy VII Remake is a retelling of the Midgar section of the story, but it has been expanded to the length of a full game. This means that the game is likely to end at the point where Cloud and his friends escape from the Shinra HQ.
Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released in a few months and Square Enix is starting to promote the game, despite its recent delay. The official Final Fantasy VII Remake Twitter page has released an image showing the main characters in a scene from near the end of the game, as they reach the boundaries of Midgar after their escape from the Shinra HQ.
The scene at the end of the road is one of the pivotal moments in the story, as Cloud decides that he is going to pursue Sephiroth and settle the score, while Aerith wants to leave in order to learn more about the Ancients. This moment is followed by a brief scene in which Barret explains the PHS (the item that allows the player to switch characters out of the active party) before they reach the world map and head to Kalm.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is going to be the first entry in a series that expands the story of the original game. The party escaping from Midgar and beginning their quest to stop Sephiroth is a great place to end the first game and should make the fans excited for the next installment in the series.
