But it wasn’t announced as you may imagine it would be, with a big announcement proclaiming the return of the beloved 80’s movie franchise to theatre screens, especially given the rejuvenated interest in the franchise thanks to the success of “Cobra Kai“.Instead, the movie was announced via parent studio Sony Pictures updating their 2023-2024 movie schedule with a new “Karate Kid” movie listed for a June 7th 2024 release. And, this was all they announced, as the update made no mention of a director, cast, producers, or potential story.
