The LEGO brand of games has exploded onto the video game scene over the past few years with hit series’ like LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Indiana Jones, LEGO Batman and most recently, LEGO Rockband. The next LEGO series poised to make its way into your living room is LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4.

This time, you’ll get the chance to explore all your favorite Harry Potter locales such as Hogwarts, Diagon Alley and more, using the powers of magic. Check out the new trailer below.

Now that that’s out of the way, the real question is, do we need another LEGO game? They may be working off of the “magic” angle now, but after all of the LEGO games released, will this be any different than using the force in LEGO Star Wars? Sure, you’ll get to explore familiar locales and come into contact with the various characters populating the series, but it seems like it may just boil down to being the same game we’ve been playing for the past few years.

With the addition of the level creator in LEGO Indiana Jones 2, it looks like Travellers Tales is putting forth an effort to add new and engaging aspects to subsequent games in the LEGO franchise. Here’s hoping they take innovation a step further with this iteration. It is LEGO after all. Anything can happen.

You can expect LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 to make its way onto all major platforms later next year.

How do you feel about the LEGO series? Is the series beginning to wear thin or are you still excited about each subsequent release?
