Doom Eternal is over a month away, but fortunately modder Doom Foreverz7 has come to the rescue to help playersto scratch the itch of a brutal shooting experience. The modder has combined Minecraft with Doom to create a game that looks a lot like the Doom games of the 90s. Not only does the mod look great but it has some pretty impressive features.
Minecraft has a huge number of mods available and because of the freedom in the game, it has managed to capture a generation of players. Equally, the blistering action of the original Doom made a huge impact on 90s gamers. So much so, that for a considerable time first-person shooter and Doom-shooter were synonymous terms. Therefore, the merging of these games has gone down very well with those who want to shoot there way through countless blocks and see a creepier side to Minecraft.
The mod, Brutal Minecraft Beta 2.0, includes 25 weapons and 9 maps which players can access at any time. On top of that, there are 825 different textures of zombie sprites to match the bloody aesthetic. With that said, the sprites only have a different appearance and will respond to attacks in the same way regardless of their look. Retro Doom skins have also been made available for Doom Eternal for those who enjoy the old-school aesthetic. The number of weapons available will entertain many players, especially those who enjoy cycling through the different ways to kill zombie sprites as they work through the maps.
The Doom franchise has an infamous weapon, the BFG. Unfortunately, the weapon is not in the mod yet, although with the amount of time and dedication put into this it would be surprising not to see it available sooner or later. The single and co-op modes will likely keep players blasting through zombie sprites until such an update arrives. The original Doom has had some crazy mods itself, yet this is a very unique and detailed take on Minecraft.
If the Minecraft update with adorable bees hasn’t been gory enough, then this mod will definitely satisfy players who want to see a darker side of the game’s capabilities. A retro-looking, new experience of Doom will likely keep fans happy until November. The mod has an incredible amount of detail put into it and it looks like it has paid off for Doom Foreverz7.
Doom Eternal releases November 22 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Minecraft is available on all platforms now.
