A tweet from Ubisoft creative director Julian Gerighty seems to jokingly confirm a new Splinter Cell game, but this has been denied by Ubisoft officially.

The tweet reads, ‘Working on the next #SplinterCell with @danhaynow and @romcamor in #Lyon,’ before he followed it up with, ‘can’t wait for #E3.’ Gerighty then followed it up with a second tweet saying, ‘Ok – plz don’t retweet. I may be in trouble.’

Ubisoft has released a statement to PC Gamer, saying, ‘Julian was obviously joking as Julian likes to do. It looks like our creative directors are having fun right now. We do not have any announcements to make at this time.’

Working on the next #SplinterCell with @danhaynow and @romcamor in #Lyon. Can’t wait for #E3. Crossover with #TheCrew2 with @fergus 🙂 Only missing @GhostRecon and @Rainbow6Game – but on their way.#FarCry#ForHonor #TheDivision2 #RainbowSixSiege #GhostRecon pic.twitter.com/oiwMPTny9Y

Indeed, if it is just a joke, it certainly seems a cruel one given how long it’s been since we last got a fix of Fisher, in Splinter Cell: Blacklist. We’ll keep our eyes and ears to the shadows at E3 for any suspicious green lights.
