Faceoffs are the key to puck possession in NHL 23. This is true in the real and virtual worlds. A faceoff win in the offensive zone is an excellent opportunity to set up a scoring chance. At the opposite end of the rink, faceoff wins in the defensive end mean you’ll be giving up fewer scoring chances and shots on goal.

In NHL 23 the primary factor in who wins the faceoff will come down to timing. Learning to properly time the puck drop will instantly win you more faceoffs. Assuming timing is equal the next factor will be the type of faceoff you and your opponent choose.
