Ninja successfully opted in as the new social media manager for the Detroit Lions this upcoming Sunday, initiating a back in forth with the football team’s Twitter account. In September, Ninja tweeted at the Lions requesting they let him take over their social media.
It seems he caught their attention, because the team has finally replied to Ninja after over one month of silence, asking, “Our place Sunday against the Giants?” Ninja replied within minutes, confirming the deal with the Michigan NFL team. If all goes according to plan, the streaming icon will be making an appearance at Ford Field in downtown Detroit for the game this weekend.
Although the public tweets seem more conversational than official, this was likely planned beforehand privately between the two parties in an attempt to build up hype for the collaboration. Either way, it should be interesting to see what Ninja plans to do with the Lions’ social media on Sunday when they face off against the New York Giants.
Ninja has not been shy with his tweets lately, briefly catching the attention of Lady Gaga as well as feuding with Kaceytron within the thread. Lady Gaga seemed to imply that Ninja was a nobody, asking who he was after he requested they play Fortnite together. Fans from both sides went at it as Ninja dealt with a fellow streamer, Kaceytron, who went after Ninja’s infamous past refusal to play with female content creators.
Ninja was quick to defend himself, citing that he has since played with multiple female streamers as well as hosted them, even taking a dig at Kaceytron’s smoking hobby.
As for Ninja’s recent escapade with the Lions, fans have already taken to Twitter to either troll the parties or simply express excitement for the collaboration. One user, Sano, was quick to point out the hypocrisy of the streamer, who recently tweeted out his disappointed in his favorite NFL team just one week prior.
Regardless, it looks like the Detroit-based NFL organization has deemed Ninja’s publicity power too valuable to worry about past tweets. Keep an eye out for Ninja’s appearance at Ford Field this Sunday as he prepares for his temporary take over of the Lions’ social media accounts.
