The first-ever Nintendo Switch controller with voice chat support is finally here and available for pre-order now.

Who would have thought back when groups of us were huddled around tiny TV sets playing the same game that online gaming would be a thing? That not only would we one day be able to play games with our friends when we’re not in the room, but at the same time, we would be getting schooled by 10-year-olds on the opposite side of the world.

That’s all well and good, despite logging off with a slightly bruised ego every time we play Fortnite. However, what we cannot abide is when those 10-year-olds shower us with shade. That’s right, not only can we compete with fellow gamers across the globe, but we can actually interact with them in real time.

Unless you’re doing your online gaming on the Nintendo Switch, that is. Unlike the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Switch controllers don’t come with in-game voice chat capabilities. Nintendo’s smartphone voice chat is supposedly a way around that issue, but those of you who have tried to use it will know that it’s not at all. Well, very soon you’ll be able to forget the app with the release of the first-ever Switch controller with built-in voice chat compatibility.
