Speaking to MCV, Microsoft’s Regional VP of the EMEA home and entertainment division Chris Lewis has denied suggestions of an imminent Xbox 360 price cut.

“There are no plans [for a cut],” Lewis told MCV. “We’re offering outstanding value and choice – especially when you compare us to our soon-to-be competitor.“

Despite a rip-roaring Christmas period which saw PAL Xbox 360 shipments rise to 3.1 million units, Lewis admits that sales are likely to slow for the second half of the platform holder’s fiscal year – the company recently lowered Xbox 360 shipment estimates from 13-15 million to 12 million units.

“We looked at three things before we made this adjustment: the historical seasonality of sales during the period, the pricing of the product and inventory levels that we have already sold to retailers,” said Lewis. “We are taking a more cautious view of the market and our second half revenue, and console guidance reflects this.“

Lewis also offered some thoughts on the upcoming European launch of the PlayStation 3, noting that he has “given up trying to keep up with what Sony is announcing or not announcing.“
