Esports tournament organizer ONE Esports has partnered with competitive platform Battlefy to host the Southeast Asian qualifiers leading to the ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational in Jakarta, Indonesia. The partnership aims to open the Southeast Asian Dota scene with a wide qualification circuit, leading to the $500,000 Jakarta event. Two teams will advance from the rigorous qualifier system, to meet ten of the world’s best Dota 2 teams at the World Pro Invitational.

In collaboration with Battlefy, ONE Esports has broadened the qualification system for their upcoming Dota 2 World Pro Invitational. Teams from six major regions in Southeast Asia will fight through online qualifiers to reach two LAN qualifiers. The six represented regions are Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, and Thailand. Up to 64 teams will be able to compete in each country’s qualifier, playing best-of-one matches until only four teams remain, where best-of-threes will take over.

Only the single best team from each country will move on to the LAN qualifiers, which are set to take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from March 7-8th, and Jakarta, Indonesia, from March 14-15th. Teams coming from the regional open qualifiers will be met by pre-invited teams at the offline events. The winning sides from each of the LAN qualifiers will advance to the ONE Esports World Pro Invitational in Jakarta.

“The online and offline qualifier system has been devised to give community and pro-am teams the opportunity to compete against the best on the world’s stage,” says ONE Esports CEO Carlos Alimurung. “Developing esports talent in the region is a major motivator for many of us at ONE Esports. We look forward to sharing and celebrating the stories of these players who ascend past the qualifier system to compete with the world’s best teams at the ONE Esports Dota 2 Jakarta Invitational.”

Battlefy will play a major role throughout this event circuit, managing the setup, seeding, tournament bracket, technical issues, and overall support, including a ONE Esports player hub on their website. Designed by both Battlefy and ONE, this updated qualifier system aims to boost the Southeast Asian Dota scene.

“We strongly believe in the inclusivity of esports and the ONE Esports Jakarta Invitational is critical for growing competition across Southeast Asia,” says Jason Xu, CEO of Battlefy. “This tournament is the premier opportunity for local teams to showcase their talents and participate in the global Dota 2 competitive scene. We’re incredibly excited to be partnering with ONE Esports to create this series and can’t wait to see who makes it to the finals!”

The ONE Esports World Pro Invitational is set to begin on April 17th, 2020, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition in Jakarta, Indonesia. Twelve total teams will compete for the lion’s share of the $500,000 prize pool. This will be the second World Pro Invitational event, the first having crowned Vici Gaming as its champion in Singapore in December of last year. ONE Esports will also host an upcoming Dota Pro Circuit Major, which is scheduled to take place in June.

Registration for the Southeast Asian qualifiers for the Jakarta World Pro Invitational opens on January 28th. Online regional qualifiers will begin on February 15th.
