MW2, the follow-up to the previous 2019 installment, will be made free-to-play for a weekend according to insiders. Though no concrete dates have been provided yet, reports state that it’s expected to arrive on December 15 lasting all the way until December 19. These dates coincide with the predicted start date of Season 1 Reloaded on December 14, which is the midpoint of this season’s Battle Pass. MW2’s first free weekend will allow players that don’t own the game to try out its fast-paced multiplayer offerings free of charge....

My Time at Portia sequel My Time at Sandrock has been forced to delay its planned early access phase due to certification issues, developer Pathea Games has announced. A press release, followed by an announcement on the sandbox RPG’s Steam page, revealed that the reason for the delay involves difficulty with the game obtaining a local rating certification required for the team to be able to publish the game online. The developers had hoped to have this in place before the planned early access before May (the original announcement had hoped for March), but say “it’s currently looking like it won’t make that date....

Microsoft’s E3 2019 briefing was stuffed with great reveals, for both AAA and Indie games. One of the most eye-catching of the latter group was Annapurna Interactive’s 12 Minutes. Check out the game’s new trailer below. 12 Minutes sticks players in a timeloop, reliving the events where a police detective breaks down the door on a young married couple and accuses the wife of murdering her father. When the husband tried to intervene, he is killed by the detective and forced to relive the same dozen-minute loop again....

Ubisoft is planning its Ubisoft Forward showcase this Saturday, with a focus on Assassin’s Creeds. Right, not just one from what reports are saying. According to industry insider Tom Henderson, Ubisoft is showing off not just Assassin’s Creed Mirage, but multiple new games coming to the franchise. According to the report, supported by Bloomberg, there are five games in the works along with DLC coming to AC Valhalla. I recall a time when Ubisoft wanted to pull in the reins of the franchise, but that’s looking to be over....

A new trailer for Rage 2 premiered tonight at The Game Awards 2018. While previous trailers have focused on combat, this one shows off the expansive world built by id Software and Avalanche Studios. Nintendo of America has said it plans on ironing out an issue regarding Switch owners losing their playtime data for launch games. The problem was flagged up over the weekend on Resetera and Reddit, with owners of Ninty’s hybrid powerhouse revealing their console no longer displayed playtime on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Further digging revealed that games over a year old — remember, Switch celebrated its 1st birthday earlier this month — were prone to having their playtime data erased....

Nintendo has won what it’s calling a “groundbreaking” case in relation to the distribution of circumvention devices including flashcarts, modchips and game copiers such as Sky3DS and Gateway 3DS. A Canadian federal court ruled in Favour of Nintendo in its case against Jeramie King and his affiliated business, Go Cyber Shopping Ltd. Distribution of these circumvention devices was confirmed to be illegal. The court awarded Nintendo $12.76 million (CAD) against Go Cyber Shopping Ltd....

Publisher XSEED Games has announced that it’ll be bringing No More Heroes 3 to Xbox, PlayStation and PC later this year. The third entry in the action adventure series arrived on the Nintendo Switch back in August of last year. However, it’ll now be coming to the rest of the consoles and PC complete with some improvements. These include HD visuals, higher framerates and faster loading times afforded by the more-powerful consoles....

Bad news if you’ve been hoping for it to get easier to mitigate shortages and find a Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 Series GPU in the near future. The company stated on an investor call that it doesn’t have much hope for an increase in availability anytime soon. “Overall demand remains very strong and continues to exceed supply while our channel inventories remain quite lean,” Nvidia CFO Colette Kress said via the company’s blog....

Nvidia introduced what it calls the world’s fastest display for gaming and esports with the reveal of the ASUS ROG Swift 360Hz. The display uses a comfortable 24.5 inch form factor, and outputs in 1080p with variable refresh rate support at up to 360Hz, improving on the current 240Hz standard. The monitor makes use of Nvidia’s G-Sync tech to pump out exceptional frame rates from PC games, meaning fans will need to get their hands on a high-performance graphics card to get the most out of the display....
