If there’s one thing I’ve always loved: it’s a good racing game. Even as a toddler rushing downstairs at speeds that would make any parent deeply concerned (and also impacting the ground at sufficient velocity to warrant a paramedic visit) I’ve been a true velocity aficionado. From the heady days of Cruisin’ USA to the more contemporary and insane Wipeout HD, I have a need that only speed can satisfy....
Aside from minor things like the trailer, the release date, the Reaper job, the second hub city, male Viera, and the Collector’s Editions, the Final Fantasy XIV Digital Fan Festival 2021 keynote also detailed enemies, areas, dungeons, and a beast tribe for Endwalker. So really, it was quite a quiet night. Not much in the way of announcements. Don’t really know why I bothered staying up, honestly. I’m not going to go into too much detail here, but I figured I should post up the videos and the little bits I managed to glean from the keynote for the various bits and pieces....
Cyberpunk 2077 has had a hell of a post-launch period. While other developers would be either basking in the success or scrambling to improve a game for players, CD Projekt Red is somewhere in the middle. By all accounts, Cyberpunk 2077 is a financial success, having made back its costs in development and marketing. However, for CD Projekt Red, the game might as well be a failure. Massive bugs, glitches, and performance issues have given the game a reputation for being broken....
Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse released a new trailer showcasing a new character coming to the game, Tighnari. Unlike the previous introduction trailer, this time around we see more of his fighting style in action. He will be released tomorrow, August 24, alongside the new version 3.0 and Collei. You may be used to Atlus’ upcoming JRPG getting one trailer a day, but today a whopping three have been released. The first comes from the western arm of Atlus, showcasing some of the characters from both sides of the conflict (heroes and antagonists) and how their fates are deeply intertwined. The second comes from the Japanese arm of Atlus and it focuses on showing plenty of aspects of the game like the COMP weapons, dungeons, demon negotiations, and various shops and venues, then moving to another look at the characters....
According to anonymous sources apparently from Ubisoft, who spoke to WWG, the next Assassin’s Creed game is going to be ‘a vast open world experience taking place in ancient Egypt’. It’s to be called ‘Assassin’s Creed Origins’ and will be revealed at this year’s E3. WWG was also told it’s ‘the biggest Assassin’s Creed the company has ever created’, and that it’ll feature a male and female protagonist (possibly similar to the last installment, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate)....

We’re less than a week away from the launch of Nier Replicant, but apparently that won’t prevent publisher Square Enix from making more announcements. Today, the publisher revealed that the game will include a host of additional goodies. Nier Replicant will get an extra episode, dungeons that never released outside of Japan, and content from the smash-hit Nier: Automata. Indeed, it’s clear someone decided there wasn’t nierly enough in the game....
A test of the Nintendo Swich OLED’s screen has detected slight burn-in - but only after a mammoth 3600-hour experiment. YouTuber Bob “WulffDen” Wulff has spent the past five months subjecting a Switch OLED to the same image, taken from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (thanks, ArsTechnica). The good news? It’s taken 3600 hours for any burn-in to become noticeable. That’s 150 days sat on the same image almost entirely without breaks - something you’ll never need to do yourself under normal conditions....
