A trailer for the twenty-third Pokémon movie has been released and it seems to be taking a leaf from the old Safari Zone episode of the anime, as Ash appears to encounter the Pokémon world equivalent of Tarzan. The Pokémon movie franchise followed the version of Ash Ketchum from the anime for nineteen films, with the twentieth film going the reboot route and following a new version of Ash. There were two reboot movies, followed by a CGI remake of the first Pokémon movie, with Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back - Evolution retelling the story of Ash’s encounter with Mewtwo....

Nintendo announced that its Switch repair centres will be out of service in the U.S., owing to the global spread of the coronavirus (via Polygon). “Due to preventive measures put in place for the COVID-19 coronavirus, and in accordance with federal and local guidelines, our repair centers are closed until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding,” said the statement published to the customer support site. It is possible that hardware sent in for repair before the announcement may be sent back to users, but if the centre has already received the console, “it will remain there until repair services resume....

The developer, Hello Games, has added this new expedition not even a month after the last big update. That was the Outlaws expansion, which gave players all sorts of pirate-themed content. Kicking off CES 2020 this year, Nvidia and Asus have announced that they will be releasing a 360 Hz monitor for consumers in the coming months. Boasting an unheard of refresh rate for a gaming display, this will be possibly the fastest monitor you can buy on the market. It will also come packed with Nvidia’s proprietary G-sync technology for a tear-free image. This new 360 Hz display (which has yet to be given a name) is around 37% faster than current 240 Hz monitors, boasting an additional 120 frames per second....

Nvidia and Epic Games just brought the DLSS 2.0 plugin to the Unreal Engine Marketplace, which marks another big step towards widespread support for the new technology. This means developers will now have a much easier time with integrating DLSS into games as opposed to before. This also means a future with better graphics and higher framerates for all. DLSS is an advanced super sampling tool that uses a deep learning AI neural network to provide improved performance in games....

Today’s Overwatch 2 trailer focuses on Sojourn — one of the new roster additions that’ll be joining the fight in the sequel. Microsoft’s frequently sighted white Xbox Elite Series 2 controller has been officially unveiled, and will arrive on 21st September with a cheaper price point and stripped-back features. The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – Core, as the device is officially known, comes with what Microsoft calls the “essential components” players need to “unleash [their] best game”. Those include adjustable-tension thumbsticks, a wrap-around rubberised grip, and shorter hair trigger locks. Hit World War II online game War Thunder will receive a Naval Battles update this year titled Knights of the Sea, Gaijin Entertainment has announced. When Naval Battles are introduced it will give War Thunder players the ability to fight on land in tanks, in the air in planes and on the sea in a range of torpedo, artillery and missile boats, coast guard vessels and patrol boats. If you’re wondering why the included boats are on the smaller end of what’s available for military, this is because large battleships, battle cruisers and aircraft carriers were deemed too slow and boring from a gameplay perspective....

Having launched back on the Nintendo Switch back in May, NBA Playgrounds on the Switch was missing one thing… online functionality. Originally the developers, Saber Interactive, thought that it would only take two days to patch it in. Unfortunately it didn’t quite work out like that. Two months after release, the online update is finally available, along with some other fixes. Phew. The patch is focused on adding online multiplayer, meaning you can now play ranked matches to make your way up the global leaderboard....
