Netflix has added a gamertag system to some of its games, with more social features apparently in the pipeline. “Game handles”, a unique and public username, were first spotted in the Netflix app by Steve Moser (later reported by Tech Crunch). The launch of this feature happened quietly last month and is currently only available for some of Netflix’s games, including Into the Breach, Mahjong Solitaire and Heads Up!. Only letters and numbers can be used in handles, which will be displayed publicly while playing instead of a profile icon and name....

Studio MDHR’s charming yet challenging game Cuphead will soon receive a Netflix adaptation. Titled The Cuphead Show!, the series will feature the 1930s-styled hand-drawn animation and an upbeat jazz soundtrack like the game it’s based on. The Cuphead Show! will follow Cuphead and his brother Mugman on many adventures across Inkwell Island. The show will incorporate characters from the game and expand on the world in which it is set. A new, lighter PlayStation 5 model has been spotted in Australia. Japanese retailers are set to get a new PS5 model (CFI-1200) from 15th September, said to have a new chipset with higher availability. Netmarble released another English trailer of Level-5’s online JRPG Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds. The trailer showcases some of the vistas and characters that are available with the game, displaying the familiar Ghibli-esque art style of the series. Square Enix has joyfully announced that Nier: Automata has racked up over a cool mill of sales worldwide. This includes digital and physical copies on PS4 and PC. Automata launched in Japan on February 23, North America on March 7, and everywhere else on March 10. Animal Crossing: New Horizons players are seeing their dream islands deleted from the Dream Suite due to hacked items (via Polygon). Hacked items might sound nefarious, but players are often using modding methods to obtain decorative items. Earlier this year, star fragment trees were all the rage, which creates this lovely glowy effect. Trees are then able to bear “fruit” like fossils or heart crystals, but these hacks also allow players to make unbreakable tools, spawn any item, or generate villagers for their island....
