MX vs ATV Legends is out today, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. Publisher THQ Nordic has released a new trailer for the game to mark its release: The description reads: “It’s time to become a legend. MX vs ATV Legends is OUT NOW! Career or trials mode, single or multiplayer, MX or ATV—choose your own path and race your way to victory.” The series is a cross0ver between THQ’s MX trilogy—which began in 2001, with MX 2002 featuring Ricky Carmichael—and Sony’s ATV Offroad Fury series....

Acclaimed adventure game Firewatch has sold more than a million copies, developer Campo Santo has announced. “Sometime late last year we sold our one millionth copy of Firewatch. Thank you all so much!” Tweeted the studio. Launched on PS4 and Steam back in February, Firewatch quickly outperformed Campo Santo’s “wildest expectations”. An Xbox One version arrived in September and an update to support PS4 Pro rolled out in November. Firewatch tells the tale of Henry, a Wyoming fire lookout who begins to uncover clues about mysterious goings on within a national forest....

All signs point toward streaming as the video gaming platform of the future, prompting investment from publishers outside the typical industry sphere already tooled up with infrastructure to distribute them. Netflix is one such publisher, the American VOD giant with a whopping 221 million subscribers worldwide, which last November launched a catalog of games to keep users entertained in between watching shows. It’s a catalog the company has plans to double in size before year’s end, even despite the fact that, for now, user engagement with them hasn’t been especially positive....

Netflix’s The Witcher could release in a little over a month’s time, as spotted on a poster advertising the new adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy series (via WccfTech). At MCM London Comic Con, Redanian Intelligence came across a poster promoting Netflix’s The Witcher. The competition detailed on the poster said that the winner would receive two tickets to the The Witcher premiere in London on December 16. Now I’m no mathematician nor astrologer nor prophetess, but this hints that The Witcher will pop up on Netflix on the very next day – December 17....

Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition, the modern overhaul of the classic BioWare RPG from 2002, will hit Steam on March 27, developer Beamdog has announced. The studio confirmed the date in a recent live stream, where it also talked a bit about how it plans on keeping the game updated in the future. First and foremost, those of you who have already snapped up early versions of the game by pre-purchasing Neverwinter Nights will gain access to patches before anyone else....

Since the launch of Apex Legends, developer Respawn Entertainment has added two new characters: Octane and Wattson. While many are clamoring to see the developer put out more than 1 new character per season, that seems to be the current schedule, with all signs pointing toward Crypto joining Apex as the season 3 character. Crypto is far from the only character currently planned for the game, however, and a new leak has identified Jericho and his abilities....

The full fiscal year reports continue to roll in, with Ubisoft dishing its numbers yesterday. In a statement the Ubi CEO Yves Guillemont said, ‘In 2017-18 we will see the exciting returns of Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, The Crew and South Park.’ Holy triple AAA games, Batman. Ubi’s social channels went on the offensive soon afterwards. The Assassin’s Creed Twitter account posted a link to the US Ubisoft YouTube, featuring a new Assassin’s Creed logo in gold and blue....

It’s been a month now since Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot launched, and in this time, players have likely beaten the game, completed most if not all of its achievements, and defeated the secret boss. Many are looking forward to the DLC run of the game now, though its season pass remains mostly a mystery. Now, a recent translation of V Jump magazine may suggest that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is getting Super DLC, as many fans have wanted....

Ubisoft is going all-out with its Ghost Recon Breakpoint marketing efforts which include a few trailers featuring celebrities, Let’s Play sessions, and of course, the inclusion of The Terminator as a character. On Wednesday, Ubisoft released another trailer for Ghost Recon: Breakpoint featuring Lil Wayne. The new live-action trailer brings back the in-game characters from the previous promotions including Nomad. However, this time, Lil Wayne, his squad, and Snoop Dogg are the ones voicing these characters....

Saber Interactive is developing and co-publishing the long-awaited remake/sequel to Painkiller (2004). Looks like last call here at the New Release Saloon. Where just weeks ago gamers could hardly comprehend the volume of hot new games in route to their local retailers, now we find the last stragglers of the season shuffling in, hoping to catch the eye of lonely players who are willing, at this point, to settle for just a little less. To be fair, it’s not that this batch of games is bad, but when three of the bigger titles going on sale this week are re-makes of games that were literally released in the last centruy, there is no escaping the realization that the bounty of the season is at an end....

At the Toyko Game Show, Square Enix released a “new” trailer for Eidos Montreal’s upcoming action RPG, Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Initially released with a Japanese voiceover, the English version arrived today. The original trailer, which is pretty bad ass, raised this title’s profile ten-fold. The E3 footage also impressed and I’ve been anxiously awaiting to see more from the game since then. Unfortunately, the new footage doesn’t really offer up much that’s new other than an expository voiceover....

EA has begun issuing download codes for NHL 17’s closed beta. If you signed up to take part, check your emails to see if you’ve got one. The emails actually contain three keys – one for you and two to share with friends. Be aware that it’s quite a sizeable download, though, coming in at 17.9GB on PS4. Sadly, I haven’t been able to verify how big the download is on Xbox One....

Fortnite streamer Ninja hits a major subscriber milestone on Mixer without streaming on the platform. Ninja surprised many yesterday when he announced that he was leaving Twitch to start streaming on Mixer, the live streaming service owned by Microsoft. In a post on Twitter, posted less than five hours after Ninja made the Mixer announcement and nearly a day before his first stream had started, the streamer confirmed that he had officially hit more than 100,000 Mixer subscribers....

Nintendo has announced the Nintendo Switch, the official name of the NX gaming system. “Introducing Nintendo Switch! In addition to providing single and multiplayer thrills at home, the Nintendo Switch system also enables gamers to play the same title wherever, whenever and with whomever they choose. The mobility of a handheld is now added to the power of a home gaming system to enable unprecedented new video game play styles,” says Nintendo....

Nintendo’s decision not to bring cult classic Mother 3 to the west was purely “business”, former Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aimé has said. The latest comment on the matter - and the latest interview with Fils-Aimé as he promotes his new memoir - comes from Bloomberg, where the former exec stated for the first time that Mother 3’s content was not the issue. “That is not at all the issue why Mother 3 in particular never made it to the West,” Fils-Aime said when asked about Mother 3’s more sensitive topics....
