Square Enix pulled back the curtain on its fast-approaching and much-anticipated retro-styled RPG, Octopath Traveler 2, in a brand new trailer today. The freshly-revealed footage introduces players to two new playable characters: Ochette and Castti. Firstly, Ochette is a sweet wee hunter who boasts the special ability of setting monsters on townsfolk to provoke them into combat. In addition, Ochette can also make friends with townsfolk with yummy food. Sounds like my kind of girl, to be honest....

More than 50% of parents worry about their children’s safety when it comes to playing video games online, with almost one in five aware of online gaming being used “as a platform for their child to be bullied or verbally abused”, according to a new study conducted by advice website Get Safe Online. According to the study, which surveyed 2,000 parents with kids aged 5-18 years old, 91% of parents allow their children to play games online despite more than half of them worrying about their online safety....

Winston is one of the first characters to be revealed from the Overwatch world. He is an intelligent gorilla raised at the Horizon Lunar Colony, a testing site on the moon. When the colony broke down, Winston escaped to Earth and was able to start a new life with the organization Overwatch. In terms of gameplay, Winston is an easy tank to pick up but hard to master. He can take out priority, squishy targets with great mobility....

Overwatch 2 has been leaked by ESPN and it is reported that the new game will have new game modes including a story mode, new maps, and new heroes with new levelling mechanics (via Eurogamer). ESPN has nabbed a BlizzCon 2019 demo guide that states Blizzard may be revealing a new Overwatch at its annual convention, starting this Friday. ‘Hero talents and in-game items are coming to Overwatch 2 PvE, and one of the missions will be a four-player story experience set in Rio de Janeiro, as opposed to the 6v6 gameplay in the original Overwatch,’ the document said....

The new series by Midnight Occult Civil Servants mangaka Tamotsu Youko has now started through Comic Newtype. If you’ve never heard of Midnight Occult Civil Servants, it has an anime adaptation that you can watch through Crunchyroll that the service summarizes as: As for the new series, its Japanese title is “Mahoutsukai no hanzai sousa” and Google translates that as “Wizard’s Criminal Investigation”....

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will allow party chat across almost all of its multiplayer modes, Infinity Ward has revealed. It’s all to do with allowing players more control over the game, according to creative strategist Rob Bowling. “A major focus of ‘Modern Warfare 3’ multiplayer is allowing you to have a lot more control over [how you play],” he said in an interview with MTV. “Looking at those restrictions and doing away with stuff like [Party Chat blocking] that’s super hardcore....

Today Avex released the first trailer of the second season of the Muv-Luv alternative anime. While the trailer is brief, it shows bits of scenes that fans of the popular visual novel franchise will be familiar with, happening after our heroes’ graduation to full-fledged TSF pilots. On top of the trailer, we also get to see the new key art, showcasing two of the iconic mecha that will appear in the season, the Type-94 Shiranui and the XG-70 Susanoo....

The midseason update of MW2 is here and, as expected, brings a ton of new features with it. A significant addition that will be arriving with the latest patch is a new area in DMZ called Building 21. According to CoD’s latest blog post, Building 21 is a “clandestine biological laboratory where only the strongest Operators may survive.” The description provided by the same announcement will surely pique the curiosity of a large number of players....

Red Dead Redemption 2, in case you somehow missed it, is a phenomenal gaming success. It tells the story of Arthur Morgan, a cowboy trying to help his gang survive the decline of the Wild West. It smashed many records, dominated the sales charts, and absolutely set the bar when it comes to open-world video games. I found myself playing the Neon Abyss demo over and over again, searching for new weapons and upgrades and, um, Easter eggs. To me, that speaks volumes for what the game will have to offer when it launches. This charming, gun-toting rogue-lite may bring a lot of bang for the buck. Its demo is out now as part of the Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition. Neon Abyss may draw some parallels to games like Enter the Gungeon....

The new Apple iPhone could go on sale much sooner than fans had expected. Apple’s last iPhones, the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max launched in September and offered a surprising camera design which was mocked by some gamers. A report by Bloomberg reveals that Apple is getting ready to release a new iPhone soon and this smartphone model will be cheaper and smaller than any of the phones the company has released in the last three years....

Capcom has patched the Xbox One edition of Monster Hunter: World, squashing the pesky matchmaking issues that have been marring the experience for players since launch. The update targets errors across the board, including “Matchmake,” “Filter Search,” “Squad Sessions Session” and “Respond to SOS.” Hopefully, this will result in a smoother online experience for budding beast slayers on the Microsoft platform. Elsewhere, Capcom’s also rolled out a fresh update for the PS4 release of Monster Hunter: World, which includes ironing out an issue where earning points and bounties were not working properly....
