The newest Netflix murder mystery, Glass Onion, has officially surpassed 90 million views in 10 days since its release on the streaming platform. On top of that, the film has become the 10th most-watched Netflix movie of all time, with the expectation of reaching higher viewership numbers as time passes. Mortal Kombat might be a return to 2D form for the notoriously brutal fighting game franchise. Now it’s looking as if the upcoming title not only mines the original Mortal Kombat trilogy for characters and story beats - but the lesser of two-evil finishing moves as well. According to leaked footage, babalities are back in Mortal Kombat. Given some of the hilarious game-altering set-ups in the recently unveiled challenge tower (we’re looking at you headless mode), it shouldn’t come as a total surprise the Ed Boon and the team at NetherRealm Studios have also included tongue-in-cheek finish movies as well....
Earlier today on the Pokemon GO YouTube channel, the debut of the first Ultra Beast was teased in a relatively short 15-second trailer. It looks like the Rock/Poison-type Nihilego will be the first of the Ultra Beasts to be introduced to Pokemon GO. At the end of the trailer, we also see the back of a trainer dressed up in Ultra Recon Squad-themed pants, jacket, and helmet. This debut was bound to happen sooner rather than later since Pokemon native to the Alola region started showing up in Pokemon GO earlier this year and they’ve already made it through the four guardian deity Legendaries....

A few days ago, Zoe Quinn accused Night in the Woods developer Alec Holowka of abusing her. Shortly thereafter, the Night in the Woods team cut ties with Holowka, and announced that the game he was working on with them had been canceled. Now we have learned that Holowka has passed away, as announced by his sister Eileen Holowka on Twitter. According to Eileen, Alec passed away earlier this morning. Details of his death are unknown, but it’s suggested by Eileen’s statement that Alec committed suicide....

Nintendo announced that it has reset the free trial for Switch Online services, even if you’ve already used your trial up. NES titles like Double Dragon, Kirby’s Adventure, and Ninja Gaiden and SNES titles like Star Fox, Super Mario Kart, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past are available through the subscription service. Switch Online also gives players access to online modes in their games, which will be perfect for those who are just getting started on their islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons....
Steamworld Dig 2 developer Image & Form spoke to MCV about how Nintendo is looking to copy Valve’s method of publishing video games on Steam when it comes to Nintendo Switch. ‘Publishing for Nintendo consoles has been, in the past, not a nightmare, but pretty close,’ said Image & Form community manager Julius Guldbog before adding ‘They make sure every QA gate is good enough. It takes months, and you have to do that for every region, and if you fail, it takes even longer....
Those of you who fancy keeping hold of your Super Smash Bros. Ultimate replays had better save them, and sharpish: Nintendo will wipe them with the game’s next update. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate update 1.2.0 (via Nintendo Everything) will drop in the next week or so, and current replays won’t be compatible with this version of the game. Octopath Traveler 2 is coming to PC on February 24, 2023. The sequel to Square Enix’s exceptional 2019 pixel graphics JRPG was announced at the recent Nintendo Direct. Much like its predecessor, Octopath Traveler 2 will follow the journey of eight adventurers who come together to complete their epic quest. Dread Templar is an upcoming first-person shooter inspired by the likes of classic Doom, Quake, and other alike games from the ’90s. It’s being developed by T19 Games, an indie studio out of Prague in the Czech Republic.
