NCSoft has made the executive decision to shut down all servers for their online mech-based action title Exteel. The game servers will be closed down for good in all regions on 1 September. Exteel was free to play based on a micro-transaction model which enabled gamers to get their hands on better equipment if they purchased items. Gunzilla Games, the mysterious studio which opened at the end of 2020 with an impressive list of talent from a number of AAA games studios has finally shared more details about their first game. Off the Grid is a “AAA Battle Royale third-person shooter” set to release sometime in 2023 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Depending on when in the year it releases, it just may well be the first next-gen only AAA first-person shooter in the market....

You may soon be able to use an NES-style light gun on modern TVs. As you may know, the infamous NES Zapper peripheral is pretty much useless on modern televisions. The original version of the accessory (and many subsequent third-party light guns from that era) would register “shots” by making the screen go dark for a frame and detecting certain hitboxes that still register light. It was a neat trick for the time, but modern television technology doesn’t really play nice with that method....

In news that’s unlikely to surprise you, Netflix has cancelled its Resident Evil series after just a single season. The show - which stars Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, and Lance Reddick - only debuted on 14th July, but Deadline reports that “as the drama did not have a particularly strong showing on Netflix’s Top 10 and cost vs. viewing is the streamer’s leading renewal criterion”, Netflix has declined to order a second series....

Today Square Enix finally unveiled the gameplay of its upcoming FullMetal Alchemist mobile game. The game, which is simply named “Fullmetal Alchemist Mobile,” will be released in summer 2022, and this time we take an extensive look at the characters, cutscenes, and even the battle system. We even get to sample the theme song titled “Spiral,” performed by Nana Mizuki, who also voices Lan Fan in the series and will reprise her role in the game....

Developer Owlcat Games has just announced Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, its upcoming title based on the 2013 Pathfinder tabletop campaign of the same name, and an indirect sequel to last year’s Pathfinder: Kingmaker CRPG. In a press release sent out by partner Paizo Games, Owlcat shared some of the features, story elements, and other improvements coming in Wrath of the Righteous. Despite an initially rough launch, Pathfinder: Kingmaker found both acclaim and awards, which certainly contributed to Owlcat securing its funding for the next title in what is now the studio’s Pathfinder series....

The latest Pokémon Direct has just announced several new and returning titles that are coming to the Nintendo 3DS and Switch consoles. Pokkén Tournament DX was the first game announced. This is an updated port of the Wii U game Pokkén Tournament, coming to the Nintendo Switch on September 22nd. The trailer advertised that the game could be played in tabletop mode, with two players each using a Joy-Con. This is a step up from the Wii U version of the game, which required one player to look at the GamePad instead of the TV....

Earlier this week, Niantic released Pokémon from the Unova region for the first time in Pokémon GO. However, the developers are being awfully stingy with spawn rates, and it’s killing hype for the new update. The new Pokémon GO update was released on Monday and included a subset of the Pokémon from the 5th generation of the main series. Players were mostly happy with the first day of the new update, but it seems that after the initial release, Niantic lowered the spawn rate of the new Pokémon....

Pokemon GO developer Niantic has issued a statement addressing two of the major changes implemented in the hugely popular augmented reality title in the weekend’s title update. Sadly for fans the studio hasn’t really said anything to calm their anger. “We have removed the ‘3-step’ display in order to improve upon the underlying design,” explained Niantic. “The original feature, although enjoyed by many, was also confusing and did not meet our underlying product goals....
