Ninja Theory has certainly been busy since getting acquired by Microsoft. Not only is the studio working on Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II (and Bleeding Edge), but a new project was just announced as being in development. Called Project: MARA, this latest game from the British studio will be “a real-world and grounded representation of mental terror.” Much like with the original Hellblade, Ninja Theory is basing this new title on the real-life experiences that people have had dealing with mental illness....

The producer for Super Mario Odyssey has confirmed that Toad’s head is actually not a hat—it’s his weird frickin’ head. There has been an ongoing debate in the world of Nintendo as to what the frick is going on with Toad. We get that he comes from a world called the Mushroom Kingdom, and he may, in fact, have 95 percent of the same DNA as a fungus. Yet, to be quite frank, most of us looked at that head and just thought he was wearing a silly hat....

The Nintendo Switch has no shortage of strange accessories and it’s about to get a new one, as Nintendo has uploaded a teaser video for a new kind of peripheral that uses the Joy-Cons in different ways. The unnamed device resembles a large plastic circle with a pocket that is meant to hold a Joy-Con and has two grips on either side. There is also a velcro strap attachment that is shown being worn on the leg that can also hold a Joy-Con in its pocket....

Look into Lightning’s eyes and tell me she thinks that no DLC for Final Fantasy 13 is a problem. She doesn’t seem to care, not even a little bit. Why? You might ask. Next year’s Grammy Awards will include the first ever Grammy for video game music. Games nominated for the Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media include Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed, and Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy. Previously, video games were included in the Score Soundtrack for Visual Media category, but now there’s a brand new separate category. Antagonist’s Norse-inspired horror romp Through the Woods is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this month. The game was previously released on PC to critical success, so it’s definitely worth putting on your radar. The spooky narrative-driven adventure sees players plonked in a moonlit forest on the western shore of Norway, and centres on a mother embarking on a frantic search for her missing son. This woodland isn’t the romantic type though; rather, it has a malevolent streak that manifests itself in the shape of all sorts of grisly creatures that come out at night....

The Oculus Rift launch continues to run into issues with early pre-order customers now receiving notice of potential two month delays to their delivery of the new virtual reality device. Having been told to expect a shipping update today, many customers are now being told “component shortages” have led to a several month delay. “Received my April 12th update,” wrote Oculus forum user Zoma. “Early-to-mid May for an 8:06 purchase (US) with a March estimate and the 1-3 weeks email on 03/24 :(....

PUBG Corp., makers of the popular PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, received a harsh history lesson this week. Last Saturday the company added a “rising sun” mask to PUBG‘s in-game store. According to BBC, which reported from Korean news site Bzit, the mask was inspired by Japan’s militaristic expansion into Asia during World War II. Naturally, many people, the Chinese and Koreans especially, didn’t welcome the pilot helmet design–slapped with the infamous Rising Sun flag layout from wartime Japan–with open arms....

The sequel to the famous Tom Cruise movie Top Gun was a smashing success over the summer after a Memorial Day release, flying its way up to Paramount’s top-grossing film of all time. To celebrate earning $716 million domestically at the box office, Top Gun: Maverick is returning to theaters from Dec. 2, 2022-Dec. 15, 2022. According to President of Domestic Distribution Chris Aronson (via The Hollywood Reporter), “This feels like the perfect time to bring Top Gun: Maverick back to theaters so audiences everywhere can once again experience how special this film is....

Warzone and Modern Warfare 2 Operators are each unlocked in a different way. Some require you to complete challenges, while others are tied to the campiagn mode. There are over two dozen Operators in total. In Modern Warfare 2, these are split across two teams called SPECGRU and KORTAC. You’ll have access to some of them when first loading into Modern Warfare 2, but most will need to be unlocked by playing the game, or by purchasing seasonal Battle Passes....

Over the weekend, fans got their first extensive look at Mortal Kombat 11’s next DLC character, Spawn, by way of a brutal gameplay trailer that showcased his combat abilities, his Fatal Blow, and his first Fatality. Additionally, the Spawn gameplay trailer showed off an intro between Spawn and Scorpion, and while the forthcoming MK11 DLC character looks great in this brief exchange, he looks even better in a newly-shared intro in which he dons his classic skin....

The upcoming Mortal Kombat movie has its Jax, Mileena, Raiden and Liu Kang, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Announced over the weekend, Mehcad Brooks of Supergirl will be playing the muscular Jax Briggs; Sisi Stringer will be looking for a breakout performance as Mileena; Thor: Ragnarok’s Tadonobu Asano will be taking on the role of weather God Raiden; and Zack from the Power Rangers reboot, Ludi Lin, will be ass-kicking monk Liu Kang....

Developer Polyarc has announced a sequel to its critically acclaimed PSVR adventure, with Moss: Book II heading for a PlayStation 4 release via PSVR. Revealed during last night’s State of Play broadcast, the game will see heroic mouse Quill return. Picking up the story right where we left off in the 2018 original, Quill is being hunted in the castle where she saved her Uncle by a winged tyrant who desperately wants to take back the power of the Glass....
