Microsoft has announced (via XBA) a slew of fresh Xbox Game Pass helpings for April, including Capcom’s 2018 heavy hitter, Monster Hunter World. The lineup is probably one of the strongest we’ve seen to date. First off, you have Prey (2017) and The Golf Club 2 arriving on April 11, with Monster Hunter World rocking up on April 18. We already knew Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was doing well - but it’s still doing well now, 18 months later. New data released by Ubisoft last night as part of its annual financial results revealed Valhalla had more unique players in the past 12 months ending 31st March 2022 than it did in the four months after its hugely-successful launch. The stat suggests players are still picking up - and sticking with - Valhalla....

Mortal Kombat X’s next DLC pack, Kombat Pack 2, will not release on PC, Warner Bros. has confirmed to VideoGamer.com. Instead, the DLC will only be available on PS4 and Xbox One. Confirmation follows yesterday’s news that Mortal Kombat XL, a complete edition containing the original game plus all of its DLC, is only coming to console. A reason for the DLC’s exclusion on PC has not been revealed. Kombat Pack 2, which is due to launch early this year, introduces four new characters to the hit fighter, including the Xenomorph from Alien and Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s Leatherface....

MultiVersus is the epic crossover platform fighting game that has been launched for open beta by Warner Bros. The game has unlockable classic characters from Warner Bros., DC Comics, HBO, Turner Entertainment, and Cartoon Network. At the time of writing, there are 17 unlockable characters with 2 more to come soon. The game has multiple classes which define the gameplay of the character you choose. Noomi Rapace is no stranger to onscreen action. But in Close, her third Netflix collaboration (after Bright and What Happened To Monday), she really ups the ante – and the authenticity. Rapace plays Sam, a bodyguard – or close protection officer – who’s assigned to protect the young daughter of an oil magnate from the mysterious forces out to get her. The interesting thing is, Rapace’s character is actually based on a real-life protector: Jacquie Davis, the UK’s first female bodyguard, whose clients over the years have included Hollywood stars, royalty and even JK Rowling....

The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, a virtual reality first-person shooter being developed by Skydance Interactive, now has a 30 minute video showing off the title’s opening gameplay. The game, releasing on January 23rd, will follow a brand new storyline set in the Walking Dead universe. Saints and Sinners’s gameplay revolves around aspects core to The Walking Dead, featuring exploration of its ruined world, in which the player will scavenge weapons, ammo, and miscellaneous items, all while avoiding or fighting living and undead enemies....

NieR: Automata Game of the YoHRa Edition has been officially announced for PC and PlayStation 4 by Square Enix. The re-release of the critically acclaimed actioner was rumoured just a few weeks back, although we now know it’s happening for real and will drop on February 26, 2019. It’ll feature the base game, the 3C3C1D119440927 DLC, Machine Mask accessory, plus six pod designs. PS4 owners will also be able to snag a few extra goodies, including a Dynamic Theme, 15 PSN avatars, Play System Pod Skin, and DLC extras such as the amazarashi Head Pod Skin....

Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony will implement a policy that will require publishers to state drop rate odds in games that use loot boxes as part of a console release agreement, (via GamesIndustry.biz). At the Federal Trade Commission’s Inside the Game workshop yesterday, the Entertainment Software Association’s chief counsel of tech policy Michael Warnecke announced the new initiative. Since then, the ESA released an official statement on the commitment to inform consumer purchases and affirmed that, ‘The video game industry relies on creating and sustaining relationships with our players based on fun, but just as importantly on trust....

The Nintendo Switch Online app has a new update, which lets you send friend requests from your phone. Adding friends on Nintendo Switch has always been slightly cumbersome, but Nintendo has made a step towards making the process a bit more streamlined on its app. You can now send friend requests from within the app by typing in a friend code, nicely complementing the update from March we reported on that allowed users to easily copy their friend code....

Nintendo is seriously entering the movie business with plans to release its first anime movie within the next five years, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima revealed in an interview with Asahi Shinbun. Kimishima said the platform holder is keen on “anime-type content where Nintendo should produce as much by itself as possible.” The failure of 1993 live action movie Super Mario Bros. was cited as a reason for Nintendo to steer clear of future adventures in live action....
