A new report claims that Nintendo will be unveiling re-releases of Super Mario’s back catalogue this year, remastered for Nintendo Switch, to celebrate the series’ 35th anniversary (via VGC). The celebrations were intended for a physical event at E3 2020, but it is possible that the reveals will arrive in the form of a digital presentation. The rumours state that Mario Galaxy, Mario 64, Mario Sunshine and other Super Mario titles will return remastered in 2020 for the Switch....

EA plans to bring at least one of its bigger games to Nintendo Switch, though currently views the handheld device with cautious optimism, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen revealed during the UBS Global Technology Conference in San Francisco yesterday. “We’re excited for Nintendo, it’s an interesting device,” Jorgensen stated. “But I can’t yet predict how broad it’s going to be, and if folk will be interested in a portable device alongside their regular portable device that they already have....

As the launch of Overwatch 2 nears, Blizzard has detailed the changes the studio intends to make to the popular FPS’ competitive or ranked modes. In case you’re not up to speed yet, Overwatch 2 will basically replace Overwatch 1 including in the competitive scene. Those intending to play the free-to-play sequel’s equivalent of a ranked mode will find Blizzard’s been very busy behind the scenes – with changes in both gameplay and UI....

While Overwatch 2 did not have a successful launch owing to the bugs and errors, it still has the fans of the Overwatch series buzzing. The game comes with an upgrade of characters and maps over its predecessor. Safe to say even veterans will have to understand the full extent of heroes like Hanzo to counter them in Overwatch 2 with the best strategies. Hanzo is definitely a hero who either goes big or goes home and there is no in-between with him....

There are few video game genres I find more cathartic than the beat ’em up. I mean, what better way to end a hectic day than to knock around an army of street punks? If you feel the same, Midnight Fight Express is cathartic; the bone-crunching combat, along with the thudding soundtrack are great for winding down. However, don’t expect the game to wow you with innovation. Midnight Fight Express is like a mashup of the genre’s greatest hits....

We first reported on Identity way back in 2015 when Asylum Entertainment reached out for crowdfunding. They surpassed their Kickstarter goal and the project moved ahead. Today Asylum has released new gameplay footage of the game in action. The video below shows some of the basic game mechanics but they point out that vehicle physics, foliage art, and character animations are all still placeholders. These will be replaced eventually but it’s still good to see more footage of what could end up being more interesting than your average MMORPG....

At the start of yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, Capcom revealed a new DLC expansion for its successful action RPG Monster Hunter Rise. This expansion, titled Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, should come as great news for fans of the base game who felt starved for new, substantial content after the 3.0 title update. Even better, Capcom confirmed that PC players will receive Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak sometime during the summer of next year, a significant piece of news considering that the base game has remained a Nintendo Switch exclusive for a while now....

With Mortal Kombat 11’s Joker DLC having been out for a couple of days now for Kombat Pack owners, fans are looking ahead to what’s next for the popular fighting game. The next DLC character for Mortal Kombat 11 is none other than Spawn, who will launch this coming March, but so far NetherRealm hasn’t released many details about the character. However, an image of a Mortal Kombat 11 Spawn toy has leaked online, revealing an interesting detail about the character in the process....

Japanese manufacturer Kotobukiya is continuing its quest to reprint all the old but gold Muv-Luv Alternative plastic model kits. This time around, two more model kits from the popular visual novel series have been made available for pre-order. The first is a 1/144 scale Type-94 Shiranui in the original Izumi Valkyrie colors, which can pretty much be considered the hero mecha of Muv-Luv Alternative and of the upcoming second cour of the anime....

Back when Den of Geek spoke with Mythic Quest creators Rob McElhenney, Megan Ganz, and David Hornsby prior to the first season of the show premiering, they revealed that each subsequent season of their videogame studio comedy would have a new subtitle based on the “expansion pack” the devs team was working on. So Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet would become Mythic Quest: INSERT-NEW-NAME-HERE for its second season. It was an interesting, novel idea....

Nintendo has confirmed it has deliberately made Nintendo Switch game cartridges taste bad in order to help prevent “accidental ingestion”. Following widespread cartridge licking, Kotaku sent off a request for a comment from Nintendo. This is what Nintendo had to say: “To avoid the possibility of accidental ingestion, keep the game card away from young children. A bittering agent (Denatonium Benzoate) has also been applied to the game card. This bittering agent is non-toxic....

Sledgehammer Games has rolled out a fresh Call of Duty: WWII update for PS4, PC, and Xbox One players today, which tinkers with a number of weapon attributes for the critically acclaimed first-person shooter. Everyone’s favourite boomstick, the sawed-off shotgun, comes out on top with this latest update, receiving a notable boost in both max and mid range stopping power, reload time, and the amount of buckshot required to kill. Conversely, the combat shotgun has been nerfed somewhat by reducing the max damage range, although it’s still buffed in comparison to its original incarnation at launch....

To date, there isn’t much that we know about the PlayStation 5’s software library. In fact, one of the only games that’s even been confirmed for the system is the looter-slasher Godfall. However, a new leak may reveal another PS5 game, with this one being a cross-generational battle royale title that has already been available for some time on mobile devices. A LinkedIn page for a NetEase Games employee shows that the popular battle royale game Knives Out is apparently in active development for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5....

Valve dropped a brand-new update for the Steam Deck client, outfitting the mini PC with some new features. A lot of the improvements made in the update add things that users have been asking for, including proper on-screen keyboard support, joystick calibration, and more. With this update, Steam Deck users can now utilize both trackpads with the on-screen keyboard. The on-screen keyboard will also display when using game mode in Desktop mode....

Developer Ninja Theory took to the stage at the Xbox briefing during E3 2019 and unveiled Bleeding Edge, a new 4-on4 brawler with colourful characters and a chaotic action. Check out the trailer below: It isn’t exactly what you might expect from Ninja Theory, who made DmC: Devil May Cry and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, but it looks suitably different and quite mad. The game will be available on Xbox Games Pass when it launches....

Nintendo has posted a short video of a new peripheral coming to the Switch, which looks like a flexible rubber wheel for exergaming fun. In the video, families and friends from around the world pick up this… whatever it is. One Joy-Con slots into the wheel, and the other Joy-Con attaches to the player’s leg using a strap. Games that involve sprinting on the spot, squeezing and compressing the wheel, balance tests, knee ups, and V sits were shown....

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is not heading to the Nintendo Switch after all, it seems. Chatter on a Switch port of the 2011 action-adventure game heated up earlier this week, after comments from The Legend of Zelda maestro, Eiji Aonuma, suggested Ninty was working on bringing the game to the hybrid console. Apparently, he teased the news during an appearance at a Zelda concert over the weekend, which people quickly shouted about on Twitter....
