It seems that a previously planned Western release of Mother 3 may have been canceled due to certain controversial elements in the game. This news comes from Game Informer editor Imran Khan who took to ResetEra to share some things he heard about the previously planned port of one of Nintendo’s most requested games. “Mother 3 AFAIK is a dead end,” writes Khan. “It was full steam ahead for a while but upon re-evaluation there were aspects of the game that weren’t going to go without controversy....

It seems as though the subject of multiplayer for Batman: Arkham City just won’t stop being a hot topic. Despite developers refuting the claims that multipayer would be in the game, and further explaining their decision, the subject simply will not die. Today Electronic Arts and Criterion officially revealed Need for Speed Unbound, the new chapter of the Need for Speed series. We even already know when it’s coming. Bethesda faced some pretty big controversies in 2019, and a lot of them had to do with the continued problems plaguing Fallout 76. That could potentially change this year with the release of the much anticipated Wastelanders DLC which promises to bring in NPCs, something fans and critics have been saying should’ve been in the game all along. Wuhan-based developer Nekcom started teasing a brand new game code-named “Project SAS.” The teaser website has been published, counting down to a reveal five days from now and providing a retro-style teaser trailer that shows what appears a tidbit of the game at the end. Platforms and release windows have not been announced, but we do know that the game is an RPG, and for now, that’s pretty much it, besides the fact that the game has been in development for five years, since 2016....

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto has said that the company has put a lot of effort into its image, in order to drop the “childish” association with its projects and products (via Siliconera). This admission comes from an interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu, which has been translated by Siliconera (cheers!). The interview encompasses a number of topics like the longevity and legacy of Mario titles, streaming, transmedia, and Nintendo’s place in the video game industry....

The Nintendo NX will be a portable system with removable controllers and the ability to dock to a base station and output to a TV, multiple sources have told Eurogamer. The size of the mobile device, including screen information isn’t known. At the heart of the NX is – allegedly – an Nvidia Tegra mobile processor, with Digital Foundry stating that the Tegra X1 chip is currently found in the NX development hardware....

Nintendo’s range of mobile games shore up the success of its IPs by attracting new audiences to its Switch games. That’s according to Shuntaro Furukawa, president of the company, who endorsed the games in a recent investor Q&A. Samsung has reportedly been hacked by the same group that attacked Nvidia last week. According to Bleeping Computer, the hacking group has released almost 190 GB of confidential data and code from a number of Samsung projects, including biometric data, source code for Samsung’s activation servers, and “full source code for technology used for authorising and authenticating Samsung accounts”. Photos taken of C/C+ directives in Samsung software were also leaked, and then the data obtained via the leak was eventually released via torrent sites....

Not to be outdone by the traditional platform holders, Facebook parent company Meta announced its earnings yesterday - and revealed the Quest content store has surpassed $1bn in purchases. The milestone reflects a huge growth in spending on the store, which rose from a monthly average last year of $12m to $51.3m (thanks, Road to VR). Meta’s success in the VR space comes as the company faces a drop in daily active users in Facebook, the company’s flagship platform, as it suffers competition from the likes of TikTok....

The highly anticipated Monster Hunter: World will receive a free batch of DLC following its PS4 and Xbox One launch later this month, and we now know one of the monsters included in it.
