Need For Speed is to receive a closed beta test on PS4 and Xbox One, EA has revealed. Players can register for the beta now on the game’s official website, with sign-ups open until Friday, September 25. After then you’ll no longer be able to register, so do it now if you want in. Applicants are able to register on both platforms, although it isn’t yet clear how many players will be invited in to the beta or when it’s due to begin [UPDATE: The beta will begin “in the coming weeks”, according to an update from Ghost....

A new scan for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot appeared online, and it shows off Dragon Ball Z’s most chaotic villains in all of their pink (and grey) glory: the Majin Buus. The moniker “Majin Buu” belongs to one character with three different personalities (incarnations) and varying transformations, and this new scan displays all of them — at least all of the important ones. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot plans to outdo every other video game retelling of the Dragon Ball Z saga, so for it to have all of Majin Buu’s forms and transformations (including Evil Buu) is not in the least surprising....

The Japanese Nintendo store is selling the Nintendo Switch Splatoon 2 bundle box for around $5, or £3.80 (give or take). Literally just the box. With nothing in it. Here it is. It comes flat packed and you have to assemble it yourself. The product page says Nintendo bears no responsibility for scratches or damage from you assembling it. Nintendo has won a lawsuit it filed against a Tokyo-based tour company called MariCar. The Mario Kart-themed tour is exactly what you would think it is: people dressed as Mario characters in go karts taking you round Japan. MariCar has been ordered to pay 10 million yen (approximately £68,000), and of course to cease its activities. Monolith has announced a series of free updates are in the pipeline for Orc-slaying simulator Middle-earth: Shadow of War, among which will permanently remove microtransactions and loot boxes from the game.
