Monolith has confirmed that Middle-earth: Shadow of War patch 10 is now available to download alongside the game’s latest chunk of DLC, Blade of Galadriel. Aside from prepping the Orc-slaying sequel for the aforementioned expansion, the update features a host of gameplay changes such as new traits and behaviours for the Nemesis System, plus extra bibs and bobs for the game’s Photo Mode. New skins meanwhile let you strut your stuff as Talion or Eltariel during the main campaign, while budding commanders can now dish out Training Orders to their Orc legions while in the Garrison....

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2’s open beta has ended. It was a trial I entered with an open mind. Though I found the visibility and repetitive inputs of Modern Warfare 2019 difficult, I put a lot of hours into it. Subsequent entries felt worse due to a regression in graphical fidelity, but I still crave what Call of Duty offers. Not fast-paced gunplay, but a game without commitment. Rather than knowing I have to devote hundreds of hours to the experience, I can fit in sessions across a range of timeframes thanks to multiplayer matches lasting around 15 minutes and frequent checkpoints in the campaign....

Modern Warfare has continued to implement weekly updates since launch. Today’s update, however, is a special one. It addresses parts of the meta that the community has wanted changes for since launch. No doubt the debut of the Call of Duty League gave Infinity Ward more insight into such needed weapon balancing. The January 28 update deploys some general fixes, adds Deathmatch Domination, Gunfight Custom, Shipment 24/7, and Capture the Flag to the Quick Play filter, removes Winter Docks, nerfs the infamous MP5 and M4, and buffs the M13....

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak just added in new monsters, maps and gear, expanding on the base game and adding a proper endgame. Mortal Kombat 11 developer NetherRealm Studios is getting into the holiday spirit and giving the popular fighting game a festive makeover. NetherRealm has announced the upcoming launch of a holiday celebration for Mortal Kombat 11, which will consist of two separate events for the game’s Towers of Time mode. Winter Wonderland launches this weekend and will run from December 22 through December 27, and the Ring in the New Year event begins December 28 and ends January 2, 2020....

Microsoft has cut “at least 95 people” from Halo Infinite developer 343 Industries, according to a new report that sheds fresh light on this month’s layoffs. The list of those now left without a job includes “dozens of veterans including top directors and contractors, upon which the studio heavily relies”, Bloomberg has claimed. Temporary staff members were also affected, with their contracts reportedly terminated with “just a few days” of warning....

SoulCalibur 5 is progressing quite nicely in development, and to prove it Namco Bandai has released a trailer just in time to get gamers ready for their E3 festivities. The trailer doesn’t reveal much about the game except that it will contain the series-staple weapon-fueled combat. Hardcore players will notice that the battle system has been tweaked a little bit - since the last installment. A new report into the development of Bethesda’s widely derided Fallout 76 has painted a picture of a studio in disarray, as poor management, a lack of design direction, and engine challenges created an environment of apathy, confusion, crunch, and burnout, and a game that ultimately failed to resonate with players. Announced in 2018 and launched the following year, Fallout 76 - an online take on Bethesda’s beloved post-apocalyptic RPG series - was less than well-received at launch....
