The initial release of MW2 brought back a slew of exciting game modes that have been franchise staples since they were first introduced. However, two specific match types were notably omitted since launch and fans have been calling for its inclusion ever since. Gunfight and Gun Game, two of the most exciting modes to grace the popular FPS franchise, will apparently be returning soon. Just after the Kinect failed to impress on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit was there to do the opposite: look awesome. Today Idea Factory International announced the western release date of the upcoming Nintendo Switch version of Neptunia x Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars. The port will release on April 19 in North America and on April 22 in Europe. At the moment, the launch date of the PC version coming via Steam is still pending announcement. Netflix is forming its own in-house game studio, as it seeks to rely less on third-party developers. The new studio will be based in Helsinki and led by Marko Lastikka as director, formerly of Zynga and EA. Out of nowhere, Nintendo has announced it’s adding to their DS slate of handheld devices with the New 2DS XL. Launching on July 28, the New 2DS XL will be available in two colours: White + Orange, and Black + Turquoise. Americans will be forking over $149 if they want one on day dot, but no UK/European pricing has been mentioned as of yet. Even though many are using their Nintendo Switch as a handheld device, Nintendo has sworn to keep supporting the 3DS/2DS, and with this announcement, that’s clear....

Fairy Tail is getting a full-fledged RPG game, which is excellent news for fans of the anime/manga series, but there is a pretty big catch when it comes to the game’s release. Microsoft recently filed a pair of patents that may hint at some plans the company has for its next-generation Xbox console, currently known by the codename Project Scarlett. Both patents were filed in 2018, but they were only just published on October 3 of this year. One of the patents filed by Microsoft is for a Virtual Reality Floor Mat. The patent shows a Kinect-like device attached to the top of a TV that’s aimed at someone using a virtual reality headset and controllers....

As several sources confirm, a new chapter in the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic saga is in fact in the works. A previously unnamed studio is responsible for the development. In the past, the rumor kept coming up that a new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic title was being worked on behind the scenes. The rumors don’t want to die down in the new year either. Several sources are currently reporting that a new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is indeed in the works – including the Star Wars insider Bespin Bulletin, who is considered a reliable source....

Bethesda released a new video of its upcoming sci-fi RPG Starfield, focusing on answering questions from the community. We hear from Lead Quest Designer Will Shen, who is also responsible for the main quest. We hear about dynamically placed settlements that could lead to dungeons and quests. Interestingly, we’ll be able to visit our Solar System, which in Starfield’s lore is named “The Old Neighborhood.” We’ll learn what happened to Earth and visit Mars, where we’ll find the city of Sidonia....

The next Destiny expansion – rumoured to be called Rise of Iron – will be revealed next week, judging by a tease from developer Bungie. Fortnite streamer Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins revealed his phone number to the world on Twitter, promising to personally respond and chat to fans, but it turned out to be a weird data-harvesting marketing scheme (via Polygon). Nintendo announced it has published The Stretchers, a silly and speedy Switch game in which the player must collect dizzy civilians and take them to the hospital (via Eurogamer). The game is developed by Tarsier, the same studio that created Little Nightmares. Its bright and sunny style is a departure from its standard stuff, but the same could be said of Nintendo. It hardly ever publishes a third-party developer, so it’s super that Tarsier and Nintendo have come together to deliver the silliness of The Stretchers....
