Nintendo has released more details on its partnership with Universal Studios, which will see Nintendo-themed areas open in three Universal theme parks. Universal Studios Japan, Hollywood and Orlando will all receive a special Nintendo area “over the next several years”, each promising to be filled with attractions, shops and restaurants themed around Nintendo games. The goal, Nintendo says, is “to bring the characters, action and adventure of Nintendo video games to life within Universal theme parks”, and make guests “feel as if they are playing inside their favourite games”....

Nintendo believes that there are still plenty of reasons to buy a Wii U this Christmas, even with the reveal of its next console, the Nintendo NX, just around the corner. Speaking in the latest issue of MCV, Nintendo UK marketing manager Chandra Nair described the Wii U as “a fantastic proposition for both families and gamers,” highlighting the console’s “compelling line-up of games” and growing list of “must-have titles”....

This past week, with the announcement that Monster Hunter XX will be released on the Nintendo Switch, the Nintendo Company’s stock reached an 8-year high. The cult hit, a highly successful game franchise from Capcom, is extremely big in Asia, particularly in Japan, but less well known in the West. Previously, Capcom’s Monster Hunter was single-handedly responsible for selling millions of PSPs and 3DSs to the Japanese mobile market. The series began with a release in 2004 for the PlayStation 2, but branched out in recent years to include PCs, Macs, and virtually all consoles....

Back in March, we reported about Landing Hero Haneda x 787 by Japanese developer Sonic Powered. Now you can actually play it in English. With a surprise move, the developer (which is well-known in Japan for the Airport Hero air traffic controller simulation series for 3DS) has published it with an English localization on both the North American and the European Nintendo eShops. The price is $29.99. The game is basically a more limited flight simulator that focuses on the landing, and more specifically the challenge of landing a Boeing 787 Dreamliner at Haneda Airport in Tokyo....

The Nintendo Switch has outsold the PlayStation 3 in Japan, showing that the console is not going to slow down any time soon (via Resetera). This week’s sales statistics from Japan claim that the Nintendo Switch has reached 10,432,570 units in lifetime sales, and that trumps the PlayStation 3. That console had sold 10,248,867 units in Japan in 2016, so the handheld Switch has surpassed this statistic and then some in a fraction of the time....

Nintendo will continue to release games for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS following the launch of the Nintendo NX, CEO Satoru Iwata has suggested, telling shareholders that it would “be highly inefficient” to pull support for the platforms “right after” the console’s launch. Speaking in Nintendo’s latest Annual General Meeting, Iwata explained that “when NX is launched, there already will be a certain volume of Nintendo 3DS and Wii U hardware widely existing in the market, so from a software business perspective, it would be highly inefficient to stop releasing titles for Nintendo 3DS or Wii U right after the launch of NX....

A potential feature which allows players to share their battle pass progress may come to Warner Bros.’ MultiVersus in the future. That’s according to AisulMV on Twitter, who found that a ‘Find a Battle Pass Partner’ screen existed within the game’s files (thanks, VGC).
