A few years ago, single-player-only games seemed to be a dying breed; major publishers like EA and Activision seemed to have shareholders convinced that always-online live service titles were the future, and, given the homogeneous nature and unmitigated success of titles like Overwatch, Rainbow Six: Siege, and the ever-popular Call of Duty franchise, it seemed like AAA development would forevermore focus on easily-monetizable multiplayer games. In spite of this, November 2019 is an oddly incredible month for single-player gaming....

Facebook’s Oculus teased fans recently with the promise of hand tracking coming to the Oculus Quest, which was initially slated for a 2020 release. That release now has an official window, and fans can now expect to start using their hands to control the Quest earlier than expected. The Oculus Quest is a standalone VR headset that operates without the need for wires or external cameras. The Quest’s hand tracking will utilize the cameras that are built in to the headset to track the user’s hands in virtual reality in real time, down to the movement of individual digits....

OlliOlli World: Void Riders DLC on PC So far in 2022, OlliOlli World has been my Game of the Year. The insanely precise and smooth skateboarding mechanics and customization, alongside the vast amount of different challenges, have kept me playing pretty consistently since its release back in February of this year. With all this in mind, it’s probably pretty obvious that my hype for the first DLC, Void Riders, was through the roof....

Just in time for the Halloween season, the Halloween Terror Event returns to the world of Overwatch 2. Over on Blizzard’s official website, the company unveiled its terrifying plans for players by introducing a new limited game mode. Junkenstein’s Revenge: Wrath of the Bride will see players teaming up and returning to Adlersbrunn as the Bride of Junkenstein is seeking revenge for those who killed her creator. The Halloween event will offer players the chance to complete challenges to earn special name cards, weapon charms, XP for the Battle Pass, and much more....

Firaxis’ Marvel-themed strategy game Midnight Suns will be adding the likes of Venom, Morbius, and Storm as paid DLC starting in early 2023. Marvel’s Midnight Suns, if you’re unfamiliar, draws inspiration from the Midnight Sons comic book run of the mid-90s to deliver a superhero strategy game blending turn-based combat, card-battling, and Fire-Emblem-style relationship building. At launch on 2nd December, it’ll include 12 playable heroes, ranging from the immediately familiar - think the Avengers and X-Men - to perhaps lesser-known characters from the likes of the Runaways....

Modern Warfare 2 gamers are pleading to Call of Duty devs to add a map vote system to the game’s lobbies – in a bid to never play the Santa Sena Border Crossing again. Right now, the game selects from a handful of maps before randomly assigning where the next battle will take place. This usually works fine, but when some maps (namely Santa Sena) pop up, you can almost count on a number of players leaving the lobby – either before or just after the game starts....

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare seems to keep missing the mark. Senior communications manager Ashton Williams teased patch 1.09 or “the big update” on November 10. The community rallied in excitement for upcoming changes and overhauls, but as the patch notes show, that’s not quite what 1.09 is. New ways to play in patch 1.09 One critique of Modern Warfare was a lack of game modes at launch. Patch 1.09 aims to fix this issue, but not necessarily in the expected way....

In 2012, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare released and has since had rave reviews and a steady following. Mordhau, from developers Triternion feels like a fantastic spiritual successor that is complex, reasonably priced, and does not muck around with any kind of loot box or microtransaction garbage that plagues similar releases in the market today. Breaking You In By Breaking You Mordhau provides players with a basic tutorial that is straight forward and teaches some of the important, more nuanced forms of combat....

In the latest trailer for My Hero One’s Justice 2, Bandai Namco Entertainment gives us a first look at some new playable characters and their often bizarre move sets. We see Izuku Midoriya Full Cowling 100%, Kai Chisaki Overhaul Ver. 2, Gang Orca, Seiji Shishikura, and Camie Utushimi in action. The trailer also shows off the various modes coming to the game. One of them is the Story Mode, which Bandai Namco says will let you “play the anime....

Its read and write speeds of 7300MB/s and 6300MB/s make this the fastest SSD available at the moment in terms of sequential speeds, and reaffirm WD’s place at the top of the tree for SSDs....

After the critical and commercial failure of Writer/Director M. Night Shyamalan’s live action movie adaptation of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” back in 2010. Fans the world over of the beloved Nickelodeon animated series were left disappointed and heartbroken at an adaptation that, beyond its title and character names, bore very little resemblance to the acclaimed animated series.Now, with lessons hopefully learnt from the failures of the previous adaptation attempt. Netflix have commissioned a brand new live action adaptation of “Avatar” that is set to be a series rather than a movie, in order to allow for greater fidelity to the storytelling and scope of the animated series....

We get product placement. It’s almost impossible to get a mid-budget film financed these days, even with Netflix picking up a lot of the slack that used to only last a week at the cinema. It’s perfectly acceptable for a film to occasionally throw in a few MacBooks, make sure the Starbucks cups are facing the right way, and keep the Audi logos polished on the stunt cars. What’s not okay, is Like Father – a film that has clearly been financed by a popular cruise ship company (that we won’t name, out of spite) to come off like an extended infomercial....

Square Enix has just released new screenshots from the upcoming Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy game and they showoff more of the battle system and special attacks. Being a prequel to the globally successful Dissidia Final Fantasy, gamers can look forward to Dissidia 012 bringing more Final Fantasy fan-favorites, both old and new. Dissidia 012 uses a unique battle system that has been improved upon since the release of the first Dissidia game....

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are coming… and you’re one of them! In Vigil Games’ new single player combat action-adventure game, you play War, a horseman of the apocalypse and with your horse named Ruin. The story follows your character after a little event takes place (the early destruction of the world, no biggie) as you re-learn your powers and investigate who’s responsible. The new “Heads Will Roll” trailer for Darksiders was recently released and you can watch it after the jump....

Welcome to the first week of August, or, as I like to call it, “the comedown.” After the megaton that is StarCraft 2 hit last week, this week’s batch of new games was bound to look a little dull in comparison. Really, though, did the drop off have to be this dramatic? We’re not asking for much here, just a couple of new games to play. We’re gamers – that’s what we do....

As a result of increasing pressure from online petitions, content creators, and general criticisms, the Sims 4 will be getting new skin tones later this year. EA recently announced the promise for more diversity when creating sims. Also, they have prioritized the issues with existing skin tones. The announcement was made in a video by the executive producer and general manager, Lyndsay Pearson. The most recent additions were made in February 2018....

The first episode of Valorant’s Episode 5 saw the arrival of the new map Pearl, and there’s more content on the way in the form of a new Agent for the third Act coming next week. As we move closer to their anticipated release, we’re compiling a log of everything there is to know so far about Valorant’s Agent 21, Harbor, originally codenamed Mage. Update 10/13/2022: Riot Games has finally unveiled a gameplay trailer for Harbor, revealing some of his backstory and teasing the water-themed abilities that are set to make him a powerful controller....

The RGX-11z Pro skin bundle has proved to be one of Valorant’s most popular, so it’s no surprise to see Riot Games double down with a second version of the same design. The new RGX-11z Pro 2 bundle includes five different weapons, including a Phantom, Operator, and a cool butterfly knife melee weapon. There’s no doubt in my mind it’s going to be a hot seller when it becomes available alongside the launch of Valorant’s Act III of Episode 4 next week, April 27....

The next-generation of video games is right around the corner as both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X are set to release in the latter half of 2020. It’s unclear outside of a few titles, what we should expect in terms of launch and launch window releases, but there are even more mysteries for the years to come. The consoles will need killer new experiences to push people into buying the new hardware when it hits store shelves....
