The South Australian Film Corporation revealed a casting decision earlier this week that may have some fans of Mortal Kombat scratching their heads. Joining the cast of the upcoming Mortal Kombat film will be 12 year-old Matilda Kimber. For those not in the know, a new Mortal Kombat film is in the works. Slated for release in the year 2021, the story is set to follow the story of the first Mortal Kombat game, centered around the last tournament to save Earth from the forces of Outworld....

Developer Milestone has announced that MXGP 2019, the latest entry in the motorcross series, is set to launch August 27. This outing will see a few new features for bike fans, including the headline feature of being able to ’live the experience of the current MXGP Championship’ from which the title takes its name. There’s also going to be a new Track Editor feature, allowing players to create their own courses and share them online....

Today Atlus hosted a livestream bound to the mysterious “Soul Hackers” teaser revealed a few days ago. While the livestream was very cryptic, asking rather ominous questions to the audience, a few images were very briefly showcased. Along these, we can see a character, the city of Tokyo, and even a “R1” button that appears to indicate that the game may be at least for PlayStation platforms. The word “Aion” is also recurrent, and it appears that it may be a group or faction....

Developer Ghost Games announced today that the brand new Need for Speed Heat will release on November 8th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Ghost Games shared a few of the features players can expect and said that they will show gameplay at Gamescom’s opening night on August 19th. A few days ago, EA put up a countdown timer to get Need for Speed fans excited about the reveal. Today Sekai Project released a trailer of its upcoming visual novel Neko-Mimi Sweet Housemates Vol.1. The game is a cute comedy kinetic novel with a single route inspired by the doujinshi series of the same name, developed by Animal Herb. It’ll release on Steam in Q2 2022. Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for Code Vein, the new IP that is routinely being described as ‘anime Dark Souls’ (including on this site, because it’s a pithy soundbite), featuring some accolades the game has gotten from press at preview stage. The trailer shows you some nice shots of the spiky, cyberpunk-goth architecture and characters, as well as sneak peeks at some of the giant bosses and regular trash mobs you’ll have to face off against....

Via. Square Enix’s website, and translated by Gematsu, details on the May 24 update for Final Fantasy XV have been revealed. One of the changes is that the title screen will have ‘a survey regarding future updates’, which will end in late June. According to Gematsu a survey will also be running on the game’s official website from May 24 to June 7. This update will also display the winning entry to the second Snapshot Contest at the Hammerhead diner....

Following last week’s relatively bountiful batch of new releases, this week’s crop is looking a little short in the numbers department. Of course, quality is better than quantity any day, and this week’s games look primed to deliver on that count. PlayStation 3 owners are in for a real treat this week with LittleBigPlanet 2 and Mass Effect 2 both on the way. Square Enix’s futuristic Mindjack, for both PlayStation 3 and 360, will also be making its retail debut....

It’s already the second week of June. More importantly, it’s the week before E3 2010 kicks off. Keeping that in mind, it should come as no surprise that this week’s new releases are fairly solid, but not particularly exciting. The big question mark of the week hovers over EA’s Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11. We’re living in the post-scandel world now, people. Will virtual golfers still flock to the stores? Or will EA ultimately join the legion of sponsors who have set this Tiger free?...

Last night in San Francisco, Konami held it’s Gamer Day press event, where they showcased some the newest titles they currently have in development. The company closed the show with the surprise announcement that a new Silent Hill title is currently in the works. Those in attendance were shown a short teaser trailer for the as-of-yet untitled game and told that Silent Hill: Homecoming developer, Double Helix, is definitely not involved....

On the empty battlefield, fights SpongeBob and Patrick, without the faintest sound from them aside from a cartoonish punch and jab. It gives the game a lonely feel. Why can’t Patrick scream “this is Patrick” when he slams the iconic telephone down on his enemies? Well, hopefully, a cryptic message from the developers are indicating that this is about to change. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl may be getting voice acting. Maybe. Oh, and the game is also getting cross-play, which is pretty cool too....

Today Aniplex released another trailer of the upcoming NieR: Automata Ver1.1a anime, alongside a new piece of artwork. This one is rather special, as it introduces a fairly obscure character, Lily, a resistance fighter who will be more familiar to fans of the manga and the stage play. Apparently, she’s going to have a prominent role in the upcoming anime, which is definitely interesting. She’s voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki, whom you may know as Meteion in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, Elena in Star Ocean: The Divine Force, Iori Fuyusaka in 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, and many more roles....

Nintendo will deliver its main news at E3 via a Nintendo Digital Event at 9am PT on Tuesday, June 16, Nintendo has announced. That’s 5pm BST in the UK. The broadcast will treat viewers to “detailed information about the various games and experiences Nintendo has in store for its systems”. The event clashes with Square Enix’s E3 conference which is also due to take place at the same time. For more information, Nintendo Treehouse Live @E3 promises to “bring fans even more in-depth coverage of Nintendo products directly from the show floor”....

The console wars have waged on for decades; not to mention the discourse surrounding the fiery topic of gaming consoles in general, versus gaming on the PC. However, if there’s one thing that most gamers would love to see, it’s the desire for having the ability of cross-platform play, no matter the system. It also happens to be a focus that Nintendo appears to be taking very seriously. In a recent investor call during Nintendo’s 78th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, Senior Executive Officer, Susumu Tanaka, made a statement confirming Nintendo’s commitment to providing cross-platform play for Switch games....

Nobody Saves The World might have the most accurate cats in any game ever. Imperious, judgey, capable of magic. I tend to kill them immediately when they appear -because of their area denial swipe storm attack - so I don’t get time to really study them, but this morning I found a trailer and paused it on a screen filled with Nobody’s cats: drawn up tall, ears nobly architectural with those straight lines and points, pupils contracted to the degree where they look like little nigella seeds standing on end....

By now, nearly every Pokémon Sword & Shield fan knows that not every Pokémon has made it into the latest games. Certain Pokémon that some of the players have had fond memories of, or always used them on their teams in past games, will not be able to share the same experience this time around.
