After months of speculation, Nintendo has finally detailed the paid online service that is coming to their Switch console. It was first announced during the Switch premiere in January that Nintendo would soon require a paid subscription for their online games. They were going to be emulating the PS Plus and Xbox Live Gold model, and offer some free games every month to subscribers. We now have specific details of what Nintendo’s service will offer....

Hello Games has released the full patch notes for update 1.3 of No Man’s Sky today, detailing exactly what is being added to the game. First off, a storyline is now being implemented with a 30-hour campaign with branching narrative. There are also procedurally-generated missions and a form of multiplayer called Joint Exploration, where other players are represented as floating orbs. It’d been previously rumoured that there’d be ‘joint exploration’ coming to the game naturally this led to the assumption that multiplayer would be fully-incorporated into the No Man’s Sky experience....

I’m not very good at One Step From Eden. A lot is going on in this game, and I’ve decided that I’m just not very efficient at deciding exactly what I need to do to win, whether that’s choosing the right cards for my deck or memorizing the attack patterns of relentless bosses. After waiting almost four months for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, the first paid expansion for Capcom’s best-selling Monster Hunter title ever, PC players have booted up their newly updated game to find they can’t access old save files. The exact cause of the bug hasn’t yet been pinned down, but for the sake of safety, anyone who hasn’t logged into Iceborne on PC yet should immediately back up their save data before attempting to log in....

And yet another first-person rogue-lite prepares to enter the fray. Mortal Sin features many of the expected hallmarks of the genre, but it has several things setting it apart. The first difference that really pops out is its art style. Environments are muted and sullen, and enemies are solid bursts of blue in a somewhat monochrome world. But the game is also predominately fought with melee weapons. What’s more, enemies don’t take damage in the usual sense, but in a manner more akin to Eternal Darkness....

2K Games showed off a teaser trailer for NBA 2K21 which flaunted in-engine visuals on the PlayStation 5. “NBA 2K21 is being built from the ground-up to fully utilize the incredible power, speed and technology of the PlayStation 5 and promises to be the premier sports gaming experience, and a standout visual showcase for the next generation of gaming,” said the company in a press release. New Orleans Pelicans’ Zion Williamson described the look and experience of NBA 2K21 as “mind-blowing,” and the trailer is a little stilted, but the graphics are very realistic....

Saber Interactive is set to release a sequel to last years arcade basketball game with NBA Playgrounds 2. Saber will be expanding on last year’s game with expanded online play through Playgrounds Championship which will be their worldwide league with multiple divisions. A new competitive league means stable online play is essential and Sabre will be launching dedicated servers for this release. The single player will come with a new Season Mode and players will be able to take their team through a complete season and playoffs to win the NBA Championship....

Today Compile Heart released a new trailer of the upcoming Nintendo Switch version of Neptunia x Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars. The trailer showcases the costumes that were released as DLC for the PS4 version that will be offered out of the box with the Nintendo Switch and PC version. A report alleges that Mark Hamill was offered the role of Vesemir in Netflix’s adaptation of The Witcher, but the outcome of the conversation is unknown (via We Got This Covered). The publication claims it got this information from the same sources that provided the low-down on the Transformers reboot and the Aladdin sequel. Both were on the money, evidently, but three is a magic number, and it is vital we take this revelation with a pinch of salt....

As we (hopefully) near the release of Star Wars: The Old Republic, it is high time gamers started trading in visually stunning pre-rendered trailers for clips that actually show off the cinematic capabilities of the game itself. Today at PAX East, BioWare unveiled such a trailer that gives a little back-story on the game, and shows some Jedi on Sith action to boot. Completing the Mass Effect series is probably a common new years resolutions for many gamers.
