Developed by Game Island, Serum whisks players into a narrative-focused survival adventure that, according to a press release, “falls somewhere between Bioshock, The Forest and Green Hell.” Just recently, the German-Austrian studio Toplitz Productions announced its role as the game’s publisher, and it certainly seems quite enthusiastic about this opportunity....
Former veterans of Activision Blizzard’s European arm have established New Tales, a “player communities-centric” publisher and developer. The company will be based in Paris, and promises to “create fresh IPs through its own internal studios”. You can now share up to 64 of your Super Mario Maker 2 created levels to the online Course World hub, as Nintendo has doubled the limit of 32 that was set at launch. And if you’re really keen, you’ll be glad to know that Nintendo won’t stop there; an in-game notification states that the limit will increase once more in a future update, via Gamespot. The company hasn’t said when this limit will increase, or by how much, but 64 courses is a hefty chunk for the many, many Mario Maker players to let their creativity run amok in the interim....
Nintendo has launched a new perk for subscribers of its Nintendo Switch Online membership scheme, which offers members a discount on games bought via the Nintendo eShop. Entitled the Nintendo Switch Game Voucher program, the vouchers can only be bought in pairs of two for £84, but they then can be redeemed against any two full price games on the Nintendo eShop that are particpating in the programme. To use the example given by Nintendo, you could use the two vouchers to buy Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Smash Bros Ultimate which are usually £59....
Nintendo has made a decision to introduce an executive officer system and transition its business to a system with an audit and supervisory committee in a move which aims to let the firm “respond quickly and effectively to sudden changes” in the business environment, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima has said. Nintendo finally detailed its plans for PAX West 2019, and they include a special opportunity for attendees to skip the lines and demo upcoming Switch games. Sort of. A free online-sign up, and a Nintendo Account, can earn you a Warp Pipe Pass. This pass gives you the ability to enter from a designated point in the huge PAX lines, rather than start all the way at the back. Nintendo has shut down a fan’s passion project to convert Super Mario Bros. to the Commodore 64. Earlier this week, mod creator ZeroPaige released a Commodore 64 port of the original Super Mario Bros. for NES. That might not sound like the most ambitious fan project out there, but it turns out that such a port requires quite a bit of work. As promised over the weekend, Hello Games has released the Origins update for space exploration game No Man’s Sky, and it’s a hell of a meaty one. Seriously, there is so much included in the 3.0 update it’d be impossible to list it all here, but some highlights include an overhaul of the game’s systems to be able to generate new planets with new features on them, including volcanoes, tornadoes and dangerous firestorms to name just a few as well as new fauna and flora such as giant sandworms and even planets with wild robots ala Horizon: Zero Dawn....
