Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling has confirmed that one of Modern Warfare 2’s more contentious perks – Commando – has been removed from Modern Warfare 3. Responding to a question about Modern Warfare 3’s melee system on Twitter, Bowling responded “It’s been balanced, plus Commando is no longer in the game. Beyond that, you’ll have to wait and see.” In Modern Warfare 2, Commando dramatically extended melee range – giving players about three meters of instantaneous stab power if they so much as wafted their thumb over the right analogue stick....

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3 are to be re-released next Tuesday, May 17 in a brand new trilogy pack, according to a listing by US retailer Best Buy. The $30 pack includes all three games plus the first DLC for Modern Warfare 2, the listing states. It’ll only be available on Xbox 360 and PS3, however, and will not be available on PS4 or Xbox One....

Microsoft has announced that more than 10 million people are signed up to Xbox Game Pass, its subscription service offering an enormous selection of PC and Xbox video games (via The Verge). “We want to bring Game Pass to any device that somebody wants to play on… Not just because it’s our business, but really because the business model allows for people to consume and find games that they wouldn’t have played in any other space,” said Phil Spencer in an interview about the subscription service last year....

The climbing mechanic in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End almost saw lithe hero Nathan Drake come with his own little stamina bar in a bid to give an extra layer of difficulty to the game. Naughty Dog’s Josh Scherr, who co-wrote A Thief’s End with Neil Druckmann and then went on to co-write The Lost Legacy, was a guest on YouTube channel Couch Soup over the weekend. When you play a multiplayer video game online, negativity can be an all too common occurrence. Due to its popularity, Overwatch is currently having a big problem with this. The game’s director, Jeff Kaplan, has spoken out on the matter, explaining that the developers attempts to expand on the game’s features and maps are being delayed because it’s spending so much time trying to ‘make people behave better.’ In a new Developer Update video, Kaplan goes into great detail on the matter, discussing the prevalence of toxicity in the Overwatch community, and outlines the steps Blizzard is taking to try and resolve this....

Stranger Things may yet see the light of day despite the recent ‘majority studio closure’ of developer Telltale Games, with Netflix confirming it still plans to produce a video game based on the popular series. The Walking Dead developer revealed last week that it had let a significant number of staff go in light of ‘insurmountable changes’ over the past year, with just 25 employees remaining on board for the foreseeable future....

Earlier this month NetherRealm faced allegations of toxic work conditions. The Chicago based studio, responsible for Mortal Kombat 11, was said to have enforced 100 hour work weeks in the run up to the games release. This were compounded by other issues relating to gender discrimination, low pay, mismanagement and poor communication. Now it seems like the studio is beginning to take positive action, as employees report getting surveys and seeing compulsory overtime cut back....

Earlier today, developer Rogue Factor and publisher Nacon announced a brand-new action-adventure IP for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC titled Hell is Us. The game’s announcement came by way of a cryptic trailer that you can check out for yourself down below. Just a heads up, though: the video is age-restricted so you may need to sign in to Youtube before you can watch it. From what we can gather, the mysterious project is set to be a third-person action-adventure game where you must battle your way through a bunch of supernatural monsters, known as The Calamity, in an alternate world that has been decimated by civil war....

Today Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse released a new trailer showcasing a new character coming to the game, Dori. Dori is a merchant based in Sumeru who rides a genie-like creature (which comes with the traditional lamp) and shares a deep love for money. She is voiced by Anjali Kunapaneni in English and Tomoko Kaneda in Japanese. You can check her trailers out below both in English and Japanese, so you can pick the voice-over you prefer....

The developers at Sabotage Studio continue to release short but intriguing clips of their upcoming RPG Sea of Stars on the weekends, and today a new video has been revealed. The brief video showcases a location called “Flooded Graveyard” as our heroes have to walk on a beam (with dedicated animations) to reach the classic hidden chest. The Lunar New Year, otherwise known as Chinese New Year, is upon us, and Riot Games has decided to mark the occasion in Valorant with only how it knows best: a new weapon skin bundle. Called ‘Enter the Tigris,’ the new bundle is a premium skin line that includes animations and sound effects to animate a snazzy design that is reminiscent of a cross between Prime and Reaver skinlines. The bundle was today unveiled with a cinematic trailer that highlights its contents, which includes a Phantom, Operator, Spectre, Shorty, and the usual gun buddy, sprays, and player cards....

Ahead of March’s public test realm (PTR) rollout, the New World team has shared more information on upcoming update Heart of Madness. This update will conclude the story of Isabella, and promises players an “epic final showdown” following their pursuit back to Shattered Mountain. In the aptly named Tempest’s Heart, players will venture into a “corrupted dimension of reality” as they seek to uncover the secrets of Isabella’s past within her “corrupted mind”....

Nintendo has announced further details on its plans to close the 3DS and Wii U eShop early next year. The company originally confirmed back in February that it’d be closing down the online services for its older consoles. Today, it confirmed the exact dates, and what players can expect so that they can prepare. As per Twitter, later this year players will no longer be able to add funds to their account via these consoles from August 29....
