London-based publisher Curve Digital has released a trailer for Narcos: Rise of the Cartels, a 2019 video game based on the Emmy award-winning Netflix show, Narcos. Fresh entries in the Need for Speed and Plants vs. Zombies franchises are in the works, Electronic Arts’ Blake Jorgensen confirmed in wake of the publisher’s third quarter earnings. It’s still early days yet, obviously, although we do know that both games will turn up by April 2020 at the latest. He also reiterated that Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will launch later this year. ‘We’re making adjustments to improve execution and we’re refocusing R&D,’ said Jorgensen....

After two years of operation, Nintendo has decided to scrub Mario Kart Tour of its gacha-like elements. Nintendo’s smartphone version of Mario Kart currently allows you to dump currency into an in-game warp pipe in exchange for randomised rewards, such as characters and karts. This will soon be replaced by a Fortnite-style rotating item shop, where you can exchange currency for items directly. Nintendo confirmed the change this morning via Twitter and gave more details in an in-game message for Mario Kart Tour players, which stated these changes would arrive early next month, on 4th October....

THQ Nordic has wasted no time in snagging more IP under its belt after hoovering up multiple franchises last year, with Outcast now officially part of the family. The publisher confirmed in a press release that it has acquired the IP from the series’ original three creators, with the acquisition being handled by THQ Nordic AB, which is based in Sweden. Right now there’s no immediate plans for a new Outcast, although hopefully things will change soon enough....
