NetEase staff have smashed up a giant World of Warcraft statue by their studio, as the ongoing and increasingly bitter dispute between it and Activision Blizzard continues. Earlier this week, Activision Blizzard revealed it was now seeking a new Chinese publisher as its current deal with NetEase, its long-standing local operator in the country, concludes this month in a war of words - and now hammers. Controversially, Activision Blizzard claimed it had offered NetEase a six-month extension to its contract - and said it was a “pity” NetEase had not taken up its offer....

Netflix has confirmed its ten most popular original films for the very first time. A new Groups feature has been added to Nintendo Switch thanks to a software update available today. The feature comes as part of the latest 14.0.0 update, as per the Nintendo Support website. Nvidia has revealed their latest piece of tech currently called project Shield at CES. The handheld controller device is powered by their mobile processor Tegra 4 and will allow gamers to stream not only Android games to their TV or attached screen via the controller, but also games from your Steam library. If your PC includes a GeForce FTX GPU then you’ll be able to use the system. This means that you can also play Steam games on any TV in your home with the game streaming via wi-fi from the PC to the controller....

Today, during a livestream from Japan, Square Enix announced that its popular mobile game Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent is coming west. According to the developers, which hosted the livestream to showcase the upcoming Japanese version 2.0.0, the release for North America and Europe will happen in 2022, with a beta test planned for the spring. People Can Fly and Square Enix have announced that they will be bringing a patch to the recently released Outriders demo to fix issues players have had since it launched last week. In a post on the game’s official Reddit celebrating the first week since the demo launched, the development team noted that the first couple of days the game suffered connectivity issues, in part due to high demand thanks to over 2 million players downloading the game....

Microsoft is to close Lionhead Studios having already made the decision to cancel development of Fable Legends, Microsoft Studios Europe general manager Hanno Lemke has announced. “After much consideration we have decided to cease development on Fable Legends, and are in discussions with employees about the proposed closure of Lionhead Studios in the UK,” stated Lemke in a post on Xbox Wire. Microsoft will also close Press Play Studios in Denmark, and cease development on Project Knoxville....

Microsoft announced during its Inside Xbox livestream overnight that it’s bundling together Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold into one single package. The result? Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
