Songbringer, announced today by Double Eleven and made by just one dude at a studio called Wizard Fu, is about ‘a shirtless carefree dude just cruising the galaxy in search of the ultimate party’ who accidentally awakens an ancient evil army, must save the galaxy, etc. etc. So a lot like Zelda, then. It’s a pixelart action RPG, and each game is procedurally generated, so you get a different galaxy to save every time....

The upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3 Re: Mind DLC will serve to both bring back and explore most of the major characters that have appeared throughout the series’ overarching story. And some new screenshots of the game reflect this by showing off returning Final Fantasy characters, and original Kingdom Hearts characters that reunited in the game’s climactic ending. For those who are unaware of the Final Fantasy situation, the latest trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3 Re: Mind, revealed that Leon, Yuffie, and Aerith would be making a return to the series after not appearing in Kingdom hearts 3’s initial story....

Today the Japanese arm of Sony Interactive Entertainment published a brand new PlayStation commercial starring a famous local singer, in a rather special way. The commercial is supposed to publicly debut on January 24, but players on Japanese accounts can receive random notifications on their PS5 or PS4 (if they have set their account to receive them) inviting them to watch the commercial in advance. The video, titled “A World Without Play | Play Has No Limits” stars popular Japanese singer and songwriter Kenshi Yonezu, debuting the new song “POP SONG....

Released on Early Access during February of last year, the niche rogue-lite RPG World of Horror did not receive a huge amount of attention. Those who did play it, however, found plenty to like, such as its distinct 1-bit art style and an intriguing brand of horror inspired by Junji Ito and H.P. Lovecraft. Ever since October 2020, though, fans have wondered about the state of the game, as its developer, panstasz, stayed radio silent for about a year....

The Nintendo Direct presentation has revealed several great titles available now and in the near future, and a surprise among them all was the new Super Kirby Clash, which is being labelled as “Free to start.” While the game itself looks to be fun for a group of players, this new label is potentially worrisome for the long-term monetization of the game. When one hears the term, it sounds similar to Free to play, which often means that a game requires no purchases to be played....

Nintendo Switch has added the ability to store games in folders, which it calls groups. The long-requested feature improves on the Switch’s rather basic methods for finding games and other content - which otherwise have barely changed since the console’s launch. Nintendo Switch system software update 14.0.0, released today, now lets you create up to 100 groups, which can each contain up to 200 titles. This method of organising titles lets you tag games into multiple groups - so you could have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in both a “Mario” group and a “Party games” group....

Team Ninja has announced that it’s beavering away on Nioh 2, following the massive success of the original Dark Souls-esque actioner back in 2017. The developer isn’t really saying much else at this point in time, although we did get to see a brief trailer that ominously says ‘defy death…death defies you.’ Sounds very Nioh-y to us, then. Nioh 2 has yet to attract a release date.

Market research firm The NPD Group published its report tracking video game spending across the U.S in July of 2022, and it was Warner Bros. MultiVersus that came away as a big winner on the software front. Hardware, meanwhile, was dominated by the PS5 with respect to dollar sales, and the Nintendo Switch once again sold the most total number of units. As is typical, The NPD Group’s Mat Piscatella was on hand to break down the key takeaways from the report over on Twitter....

As it stands, the Oculus Quest is less powerful than the Oculus Rift, allowing the Oculus Rift to run various apps and games that the Oculus Quest cannot, despite both sporting a great selection of VR games. However, with Oculus Link, Facebook is aiming to fix this issue by enabling Oculus Quest owners to play Rift games. With the Oculus Rift, owners are able to play more demanding content via external components, given the owner has a PC that can live up to the task....

Bandai Namco has announced that upcoming action adventure One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 will release in March care of a new trailer released today. The game will follow the currently ongoing Wano Country story arc as featured in the popular anime the game is based on, but will feature an entirely original ending in order to not clash or spoil the conclusion of the show. Those who plump for the special Kaido Edition will also be able to get their hands an exclusive LED diaorama....

Square Enix is back with another dev update regarding inventory restoration in Outriders. Unfortunately, the team is still working to recover lost items following the inventory wipe glitch from a few weeks ago. However, Square Enix has assured that it will restore “as many lost items and accolades as possible” in the coming days. The developers even plan to return the lost items in better condition than they were before....

An Outrider’s work is never done, eh? Earlier today, Square Enix and developer People Can Fly hosted a livestream to unveil Outriders Worldslayer, the game’s first expansion. It’ll arrive with many expected features: a new campaign, more weapons and gear, and a new baddie to bash. But it will also address one of the critiques of the base game. The Outriders Worldslayer expansion revamps its endgame content with tougher difficulty tiers and an Ascension system....

Publisher Prime Matter has declared that Outward: Definitive Edition will launch on May 17. As previously announced, the Definitive Edition of the survival RPG includes both expansions; Three Brothers and The Sorobreans. There’ll also be a bunch of updated and new content all set in the magical world of Aurai. You’ll be able to tackle the game’s main story alone or with a friend in co-op. A new trailer has also dropped to give new players an idea what to expect....

Microsoft has announced plans to host a “special” Forza Motorsport event at E3. The event is set to take place at LA’s Petersen Automotive Museum during the afternoon of Monday, June 13, just hours after its E3 press conference earlier that morning. Fans attending Microsoft’s E3 FanFest are all invited, with the event expected to celebrate the announcement of the next Forza title. Microsoft announced back in March that it would be revealing “the next Forza game” at this year’s E3, and confirmed the Lamborghini Centenario as the game’s cover car....

Minecraft Java Edition’s new update is here, and developer Mojang has responded to players who still aren’t happy with its Player Reporting system. The new changes were first introduced a month ago in a pre-release of version 1.19.1 and players were already voicing their concerns online. JewelTK, who runs their own Minecraft server, posted a video on Minecraft’s subreddit explaining why they were against the change. JewelTK said they, along with other server hosts, now feared banning players from their servers due to potential abuse of Player Reporting....

We have good news and bad news. The good news is that Minecraft has a lot more coming its way. The bad news is that it’s not coming this week… Minecraft headmaster Notch confirmed via his Twitter and blog that the Minecraft 1.5 update will not be ready in time for release this week. Since they don’t launch updates on Fridays, it would have had to be ready for tomorrow but there are still some things to be worked on....
